Hey Fam – in my infinite wisdom I called Svech a righty! When he’s a lefty. Apologies ! In my smooth brain I was watching his right hand on the top of the stick and wanted to something along the lines of “since his top hand is the right hand he can lean his body left.” Anyways appreciate you all as always that mistake will live forever! ❤️🔥
Excellent breakdown. Thanks. Go Canes!
Great breakdown. Casual fans call it boring hockey. Washed up analysts say we take too many bad shots 😂. Call it what you want 10 more wins for the fkn cup. WE WANT THE CUP!!!
You said you played against the Stall brothers in midget. I take it you still play hockey in an adult league or something? You def know the game very well. Just curious.
Dude, I am a diehard canes fan since 2009 but I never played the game. Your insight into Rod’s system is legendary. It requires insane cardio which is probably why we end up burning out in the ECF. Hopefully this year is different! Thank you for the hard work in making these videos. It does not go unappreciated. I have smashed the like button into smithereens!!
Definitely agree with your thoughts here. It’s not tv entertaining hockey, but it does have its allure through the strategic defensive positioning and appreciating the small plays to limit a fast north south game for the opposition.
The Hurricanes should really be called the Hornets, like their Charolette counterparts- since it’s exactly how they play.
As for Svech, the entire Hurricanes fan base know his incredible skill and strength as a power forward. The problem is that he doesn’t play to his potential for 70-80% of a season. Fans are shocked that he turned it up a giant notch after several seasons of mediocre play.
Bro your hockey iq is on point
Great video. Liked, subscribed, and shared with my homies.
Brilliant explanation. Nicely done.
Fantastic analysis. I admit that despite being a zealous fan of the sport of hockey and the Hurricanes for over a decade I never understood the game in this level of detail/at this fundamental level…and this video really helped me learn to see the game in that light.
Plan the parade! Go leaf's go!
Ovi and Carlson look a step slow on D
Straight puck hounds 4 life
This is the best breakdown of Brind’Amour’s system and coaching style I’ve ever seen, and I’ve been watching the Canes since 2006.
Awesome analysis.
Somehow I have not seen your content for a long time. Thought maybe you had discontinued doing the videos So glad this has popped up again, always love your breakdown of games. Like so many others are saying, your analysis is always amazing and informative. Hopefully you’ll have another 10 of these for us Canes fans this year!!!
Svech is great at puck retrieval as well. Especially on PP. His size and board skills are elite.
I have never seen such insightful breakdowns, this is awesome for learning more about the tactics for someone who has never played. And as a huge Caniac, I of course love hearing what makes our tactics work!! And as I only watch Canes games, I must be spoiled by their effort… why wouldn’t you chase a guy for the puck? What’s the alternative? Go eh, someone else’s problem, I’ll hit the bench? 😂
Svech's main reason for being underrated is because he had the injury bug something bad for a couple years and we missed him for most of the playoffs 2 years in a row, that and his propensity to hit bars. If he ever gets his accuracy issues figured out he will be terrifying. Still hoping for a michigan this playoffs from Svech. This year is the first year I think Svech has really been himself. Roslovic was nearly pricing himself out of the market with how well he was playing for us at the beginning of the year and then after 4 nations he had a massive slow down in production. I think him being a healthy scratch was a great way for him to get his motivation and his shot back. His PP goal was huge for us. Blakes goal was the most lucky goal I've ever seen. Sitting in section 123 at the game I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it emerge from under the goalie. The entire arena didn't think Robbies goal went in either, and when the horn went off we went nuts.
You're spending like 2 min talking about one of the first plays of the game, when Jarvis stole the puck from either 6 or 8 and then 2 canes players whiff it lol
I was in the 300s in the stadium watching that. lol we were all so annoyed after both Stall and marty just fan on it.
you've really peaked my interest with your channel, you seem to see things i've never noticed before as a long time caniac, like the fact that the canes don't reach, they run up. great breakdown.
Love the vid, great job disecting the game!! Svech is a left handed shot though 😉 Keep it up!!!
right handed shot?
hypothetical king analyzing post game is like judging a drive through burger.
I didn't ask how I wanted it made, I just bitched or praised it. this channel sucks cock.
That system is why Mikko didn't work there.
Been a canes fan since 96 when we heard hockey was coming here. Saw the first game in NC with the canes in Greensboro. Let’s Go Boys! RBA is the best coach for this squad!!
Also, Wilson is a head hunter and needs to be put down like Martinook did. 😂
Tim Gleason is the best penalty kill coach in the league. Slavin is his doppelgänger with an upgrade. Slavin is gonna be a generational player
Just found your channel. Love your stuff bro
These breakdowns are fascinating. Thanks.
I’ve been watching hockey for years, most of my friends played when I was a kid. My kid plays now… these videos have the best analysis I’ve ever seen. Learning a lot about things I thought I knew plenty about.
Thanks! Definitely subscribing and sharing these.
Jarvy definitely has a good shorthanded future. He put 6 in during the regular season.
Okay well first of all, this was a fantastic, detailed breakdown! Thank you for making it! It's also nice to have at least one person not call us boring lol. There is a huge market for this kind of thing with Hurricanes fans because we just don't get the coverage that other teams do. I'd love to see more of these kind of breakdowns from you about Carolina in the future.
We have a ton of newer fans due to the recent success and some of them are still learning. Hell, I've been a fan for decades and I'm learning all the time because I didn't really play the sport as a kid.
I love that you mention the fitness level of the team. Fun fact that you may or may not know, Rod takes the player fitness evaluation test prior to training camp every year and if he can pass it, he expects all of the players to as well. Dougie Hamilton joked (?) that he avoided Rod in the weight room because he was intimidated by him lol. 😂😂
If we do end up beating the Caps in part due to our conditioning, that would be the 2nd time we beat them that way. The first time in 2019 we outlasted them in 2OT for the winner and you could tell they were absolutely gassed. Didn't help that the Hurricanes were SUPER young that year, so we were in better shape.
Svech's main problem with recognition is really just due to his injuries. He started out really well, then had a few serious injuries in a row; his last one was a knee injury and you can tell he's just finally getting back to trusting that leg again. If he can keep himself from being injured, I think he will continue to break out and eventually get the respect he deserves.
I do love that you mention the team not reaching when they play correctly because 99% of our penalties are stick infractions due to reaching and not skating.
Really cool that you played against the Staals and coached Jarvy's friends! I can only assume the Staals were as gigantic as kids as they are as men lol.
Canes aren’t going far even if they beat a shit capitals team
Your analysis is first-rate.
Man, I’m learning so much from this channel. So much better than the national media. Canes fan here and new subscriber
