Ryan had an insane +/- rebound year because of the Lightning’s defensive structure throughout the season. I don’t see it happening all his major success is in Tampa I would just ride out and finish my career in the sunshine.
That Soucy trade was certifiably dreadful & highlights Drury's incompetence. Soucy is too slow & a ponderous skater. Trade him for a 6th if you can get it. McDonough is a no go, and I'd rather get a guy like Orlov on a short term deal if possible. The combination of Laviolette-Drury was dreadful & another useless pickup was Aube-Kubel, no doubt championed by Laviolette. My hope is that Sullivan will give better input to Drury re: player selection.

Even if Ryan had a lesser season than he has had lately with Tampa, he is STILL better than what we have and he can provide some stability and guidance for younger players. He could be worth it on a short contract for the right amount. Fox/Borgen…McDonagh/Jones…Schneider/? Trade Soucy, trade Giveaway Miller and get another young high quality D man. Then work on the offense.
