This is going to be the biggest test for both teams, both have great offense, defense, goaltending (at least currently), and depth. Players to watch: McDavid, Draisaitl, and Skinner. I've been saying McDavid and Draisaitl for a bit now but it's because they have yet to really pop off. Stuart Skinner, average goaltending is all you need to do or atleast .890SV% 🙏 Oh and please get that powerplay going, it might be difference if it goes cold this entire series. Realistic score: Stars 5-2. Hopeful score: Oilers 4-1. Like you mentioned extended breaks are just brutal to this Oilers team, would love for them to prove me wrong tho.
Excited for this series to finally start! I like Podkolzin to score a goal and the Oilers to steal game 1 in a 3-2 or 4-2 win. Let’s go Oilers!

just remember , when the 2 top guys get hypnotized by media into being self producing instead of taking their talent , speed, stick work and focused on scoring these things occur as a result of this focus.
1. all players tend to spend too much time trying to pass to connor/drai, then find themselves out of position . that causes , sloppy give a ways, other team using the fractured lane open to get into our zone unchallenged . and most times gives goalie bad cover and goals against .
2. Team and other lines get loose because of the precedent shown by top line as indicating that's the strategy or others have to scramble to get a goal to cover the sloppy goal against mishap .
3. by second period entire team is frustrated and makes mistakes and either ends in having to scramble to recover goals against or everyone takes the foot off the gas they wander around .
Connor doesn't need points , more then wants to win to get to finals Right ?
The media hypnotize connor and others as the strategy to get back to instead of dominating control using depth where we been unbeatable and winning . they trying to influence by distractions of ego vanity play instead of dominating, so they get more control so were sloppy and they beat or rattle us.

Austin – you’re the only Canadian hockey sports talk guru saying Oil D is better than Stars (even considering bottom 4 pair). Stars bottom D while not big name have good performance and let’s not forget how bad Nurse can be (last year we damn near ran him off the team).
I’m nervous as hell about Skinner against this years Stars team. Skinner has a very high beta in net and if he doesn’t play well we could be down deep fast in this series with an injured backup.
One thing that’s a positive is CMD gets 2+ points in game 1s and the Stars have a horrible game 1 record in the playoffs.
Stats don’t matter. Both teams are different and better this year and better than regular season and have gotten better thru out the playoffs.
Let’s just hope the boys play smart and stay out of the sin bin. Stars PP is good this year whereas last year they were 0-14 (in 28 mins of PP).
Let’s all not drink the coolaid too early. We were down 2-1 and down 2-0 in game 4 until the boys removed the boot off our neck.

The defense and especially Nurse & Bouchard cannot make simple defensive mistakes, ie fail to box out guys, tie up sticks, backing up to the goalie on the back check. They need to take Stars players AT THE BLUE LINE. DEFENSE CANNOT BACK ONTO GOALIE. ON THE BACK CHECK! In fact that's how we lost the final game last yeat….Kulak who normally doesn't do that, backed in all the way onto Skinner and Reinhart had plenty of time to pick his spot! THIS CANNOT HAPPEN THIS TIME AROUND!

You’re nuts esa Lindell is an all Star caliber defenseman. He was a +34 this year averaging over 22 minutes a game.
Edit: NOBODY on the Edmonton oilers was a +34 or better this season. Nobody.
Edit edit: that was the 6th best in the league and he did that while only taking 14 PIM. You could argue he was one of the two best defenders in the NHL this season.

But the reality is the Oilers have two superstars but the Stars have 6-7 very good players, including an important goalie. This time I'm not nearly as concerned. Last year we respected Dallas and Florida too much but this year we need to go into these series believing that we can and should win every game we play. We can't keep coming from behind in series and we need to be the best team we can be right from game 1. We saw it against Vegas and we can keep it going against Dallas. Oilers in 5.
