The Hooked on Phonics reference gave me a chuckle. And Sweeney getting an extension…hmmm…not sure how I feel about this. If they're planning on being legit playoff contenders, then I can see replacing Korpisalo with an established NHL goaltender. Otherwise, I think I'd rather see them promote from within and use some of that money to look for offense. As far as Marchy goes, I can't imagine him agreeing to what the Bruins had offered during the season, unless the offer is increased which also doesn't make sense. I also don't believe the Bruins should be signing old players when they're in need to get younger and faster, even if Marchand is a Hall of Famer.
Jacobs is clueless. Lets repeat the same mistake for two more years.

Next season there will be a marginal improvement which may mean that they just make the playoffs but it wouldn’t surprise me if they missed them again. Bruins fans deserve better and the only way to let the powers that they know is by the Almighty dollar.

Bruins need a Goalie. Swayman is weak and will never carry the Bruins to victory. I say get rid of him while he still has some value.
We're in dark times concerning the Boston Bruins. Reminds me of the early 1990's era. Those were very dark days for the Franchise. Been a avid Bruins fan since 1985. Bruins had some great goalies over my time. Andy Moog (one of their greatest), Tuukka Rask, Tim Thomas are the standouts. Swayman isn't good enough to wash those goalies jock straps with his tongue. Ullmark was the one to keep. It blew my mind when swayman held out in his contract negotiations. A mediocre at best goalie demanding 10 million a season, and Sweeney and Neely give it to him. There's the biggest head scratcher. Not quite as big a head scrather as giving Seguin away for virtually nothing though…
Glad to see I'm not the only one still seething about the trip in 2019, funny how you slipped that in there. When the President's trophy winning Lighting got swept in the 1st round, it seemed like the seas had parted for Boston, and felt like that was their year to win it even more so than the historic season a couple years ago.

Looking back over the years more carefully, I agree with Court that Neely is the bigger thorn in the side.

YESSS !!! The trip that should have been called. I was pissed. Player gets his feet cut from under him, lands on his head, right in front of the ref. No call and St Louis scores on the same play. I remember Cam Neely throwing his drink across the room. That changed the series. Still irks me just thinking about it

This kid is what? 23? Give me. BREAK, Goalies need more time to develop. There's no way the plan is to trade Sway and move this guy to Boston. MAYBE this kid plays in Providence. I do beleive, yes, one of the kids is moving from Providence, that leaves a spot for Zajicek.
As for Marchand? I can see him going to play w. Butch out in Vegas. I know he grew up a leafs fan, so that's a possibility. Back here ? I don't know how much he and Cam get along. Will he come back after being traded? I am not sure.
Happy for Marchand, I’d stay with Florida if I was in his spot- he fits in perfectly and they love him- not sure Marchand can get $21.5 million for 3 years? The Sweeney extension is his last chance to get the team back on top of the division- we’ll have to wait and see?
Is he going to hire the coach from Czechia as well? His extension makes me think Neely is at the beginning of a cognitive slide, likely resultant to CTE.

The goalie signing is IMO just to see how he does in Providence. No harm can come from it. I hope they deal Korpisalo, bring up Di Pietro and give BB a shot at being the big goalie in Providence. Swayman deserves a comeback chance and I think he is up to the task if our defense does not play as horrible as it did this year.

I am less concerned about the Sweeney signing, as I see him as a decent GM, then the search for a coach. I'm sorry but I have zero faith in Sacco or any. of this bunch beyond our goalie coach. Sacco and co. were completely unable to change a game or fix the powerplay. It's like they just kept trying same old same old all the time. We need better coaching.

Florida no longer has their 2027 first round pick they lost it to Chicago in the Seth Jones deal, this means B's get their unconditional 2028 first.
He is a GM, the job is making difficult decisions and taking responsibility when they don't work out, except for Sweeney, I guess. I agree with you Sweeney is good at maximizing trades, but I believe the Bruins need a team that can draft now. You can trade and pick up really good players but the pillars like Bergeron, Marchand, etc. those you generally have to draft and whoever is making draft decisions sucks, and they need to go, one or all. I do not believe they are going to be able to trade the Bruins to long-term success anymore and maybe not even short-term success. I guess we will see.
I guess they are just going to let Sweeney do Irreparable damage that is going to take years to fix.

I feel like Sweeney needs to make a few hockey trades preferably for young, emerging forwards with potential ceiling. Way too many bottom 6 guys, really only a couple top 6 guys on the roster. I don't see Brad returning.

It means Korpisalo is gone en this guy is a floating piece case they don't get a current NHL goalie in lieu of him and they have to bring up the kid from Providence while slotting this guy down there. Corpo has been talking what seems like trash and you know the tender egos in that front office. I think they would trade him for nothing at this point because their feelings are hurt.
This will be Sweeney's last chance with the B's, if he cannot turn things around in the right direction the next couple years, they will have no choice then, but to part ways with Donny and maybe Neely as well.
