Horvat hurt!!! TYPICAL ISLES
Being bold doesn't make you a good GM.
Darsche is the best choice. The Islanders are blowing it again. I know Bergevin is going to draft Hagens.
Hire Darshe for the draft and hire Bergevin to make trades
Lou should have been fired right after that contract was given out to Engvall.
Bergevin is a solid choice as GM should it come to pass. Like every GM he has had some wins and losses but overall his wins are still producing for Montreal, he traded an overpriced Subban and got a cheaper but solid defenceman in Gallagher which was an overall net win for Montreal and he identified a young Nick Suzuki as a core piece and that trade continues to pay dividends. Most of all he knows how to develop young players and build a solid staff of intelligent hockey people around him but MOST IMPORTANTLY…I believe he is smart enough to STAY THE HELL AWAY from one Mitch Marner who if the Islanders signed to a long term, enormously overpaid contract, would absolutely end in heartache.😊
Bergevin is another retread with nothing new to offer but what did I expect from this organization?
Berg? YIKES. Have y'all taken a close look at berg's record as hab gm? And remember gm's in habland operate under pressure cooker conditions so different operating in montreal where only winning is tolerated and where most gm's just like coaches don't last long without winning results.
1. Berg botched the aho offer sheet then lost kotkaniemi to offer sheet after canes revenge offer sheeted habs. Then berg in a panic move to make up for that traded a first and second for dvorak. That was bad asset management.
2. Berg's draft record with habs not great-drafted galchenyuk in first in '12 a bad draft one spot before g. reinhart isle pick. Drafted kotkaniemi in '17 in an overvalue pick in first. Drafted sergachev in first then was dealt for drouin. Made controversial mailloux pick in '21.
3. Berg trade history. Made the subban for weber deal which helped get habs to '21 finals, traded pacioretty for suzuki, traded two old vets for danault, petry deal were good yet made the above sergachev trade plus signed c. perry which helped get habs to '21 final as well yet ran out radolov and markov and made ufa blunder on alzner to make up for that so ufa results are mixed. And let tatar and danault walk as ufa's after finals berth to which that and the demise of price and weber dropped habs to bottom of nhl the next season.
And berg seemed to favour stay at home type of d men with not a lot of mobility with habs who played like he did. Which probably favours schaefer as top pick with berg as gm.
Habs after getting upset by rags in '17 playoffs had a 4 out of 5 year playoff miss only getting in in '20's bubble playoff and made finals in '21 in shortened season getting thru new canadian div. format to finals on c. price's last heroics even tho berg moves helped that run.
So berg may not be the best choice but the isles only choice. And with gm search taking so long gm would have to use louzer's scouts for upcoming draft. Maybe a berg, roy hab type of connection with isles? Both played in q league together back in earlier '80's so they could chat together in french.
And habs are offering 16th and 17th picks in a deal. Maybe berg would like to deal with his ex-team? And 18's challenging season? Dude did nothing again only coming to life for a 5 game span late in season then did nothing after that.
Islander fans this is my take if Bergevin ( Lou 2.0 ) becomes GM, we will not make the playoffs and we will have a shot at these following players…long shot McKenna, or Viggo Bjorck, Beckham Edwards, Ryan Roobroech, or Pierce Mbuyi…or even Niklas Aaram- Olsen. If he makes the right decision and draft Misa…we will be playoff bound in up coming season…let us not get ahead of ourselves
Let Bergy be President! Darche for GM ! Wake up Owners!
Good 🌄, Gil. How are you? Mark Bergevin may be the runner as GM/ PRESIDENT OF PLAYER OF OPERATIONS for the Islanders. I remembered he played for the Islanders. He has chutzpah and has experience, too. If the Islanders hire him, HE'S GOT A MAJOR MESS TO CLEAN UP. He has mixed results when it comes to the draft. I hope he keeps Patrick Roy as Head Coach. It's been 6 weeks since the Islanders played a game, and they're still getting bit by the injury bug. This ⏲️, it's Bo Horvat. He's heading back to LI. we will know the situation then. If Horvat's isn't seriously injured, he'll have all ☀️ to recover. Pierre Engvall. He's been in Patrick Roy's 🐕 🏠 ever since he became Head Coach. He called out by Patrick Roy in the press. The talent is there, never said otherwise, but can't deliver those monster hits, and his 🧊 ⏳️ took a hit, took. Bottom line, LACK OF CONSISTENCY. I have a feeling if Bergevin becomes GM, Engvall will be the 1st to go. HAPPY 🎂, BILL NICHOLSON. He selected in the expansion draft from LA, right up there with Billy Smith. He scored his 1st NHL goal, but the Islanders lost 7-2 to Vancouver. He got drafted by the Islanders who set a record for futility, only to get drafted by the Capitals, who broke the record for futility 2 years later, and had a -82, THAT'S BAD. Hear from you later, Gil, nostalgia⏳️. Isles vs the Maple 🍁 Game 2 from 1981. Oh, did they set it off. Now, LET'S GO ISLANDERS.
Desperation as usual
I do think Bergevin is gonna lean towards a re tool rather then stipping it down and starting over. I know islander fans are split on which way to go. But me personally im in favor of trying to win now. Cant stomach the thought of 4 or 5 years of losing hockey to try n build a team from the ground up! Especially with Sorokin at the beginning of his long contract.
The Islanders attract 2nd hand everything
Look the moment Ken Holland became their favorite I just knew they were going to screw this up. But since nothing has been announced, I’ll relax
Bergevin has the experience. but I'd hire Darche. Time for a young and promising GM.
Bergevin PoHo, Darche GM: they cannot screw this up.
Bergevin did a fairly good job as GM with the Habs, but I think I would prefer Darche. Wishing a speedy recovery for Bo. Lou really messed up with Engvall's contract, I wish they would finally cut all ties with Lou. Time to move on. LGI
LOL, good luck Islanders 😄. "Bargain Bin" will trade for bottom 6 players to add to your roster.
Regarding Horvat, I think I saw a tweet saying that he took a few bad hits, but was able to skate off on his own power. If a stretcher wasn't involved, it's something that can hopefully heal over the summer.
I hope it works. I like Bergevin, might have remembered Al and Bill's teachings when he was an islander. I hope so. we need someone who gets it. I appreciate that he made the finals with his team in the cap era. this is hopeful. Yes, did he make mistakes, yes, but even hall of famers like Bill Torrey and Lou L have made mistakes while winning.
I like Bergevin.
When Lou was told he wasn't being renewed he should have also been told not to come to the Office anymore and enjoy his life.
No on Bergeron. Yes on Darche. The owners are clueless.
The Islanders should check to see if Doug Wilson would move to the East Coast to be Team President.
Good ole verre du vin lol 🍷 😂👌🏼
Bergevin was always a very good asset manager with the Habs. Issue was his loyalties to Trevor Timmins and his poor drafting abilities. If he builds a strong support staff and trusts in them to do thier jobs, Bergy could be a very solid GM.
I guess after digging and learning more about him, Berg doesn't seem as bad as I first imagined. We'll have to welcome him in until he does something to want to make us kick him out. Concerning Bo's injury. I'm really too worried about it. I don't know the extent of this injury, but he's a hockey player, right? Just rub some dirt on it and get back out there. Yo Bo, rest up for the rest of the off season. Thanks, Gil. Everyone.. Let's Go islanders!!
