Hate we won that way, but happy we won.
Not trying to be rude or anything but I didn't really think that their harmonica playing was very good. I'm no harmonica player nor can I say whether that was a good or bad performance by them, but I simply didn't care for it. The crowd singing was cool, but I was neither moved, motivated, nor pleasantly surprised by it and I hope the choose something a bit cooler or traditional in the next anthem.
McDavid now has 42 points in 20 career playoff games against the Kings. He's going to get his. The greats do. For him to waste a 4 point night in a loss makes me feel that much better about this series. The Kings have to fire power to match Edmonton that has been lacking in the previous matchups.

I almost feel sorry for McDavid sometimes… easily the #1 pick over Eichel and only one of those two have a cup so far; fresh off the near literal historic Superman level effort to push the Oilers to Game 7 of the SCF last year but still lost, then starts the playoffs with yet another Herculean effort to get the team back in the game and then still lost…. Sucks but GO KINGS GO!
EDM is very good at taking covert penalties. Nothing new for them. They know what they can get away with like holding the stick. Some of those are very hard to see without the benefit of replay.
I love that so many people online are now counting the Kings out after giving up that lead. Can Wait to see them proven wrong.🖕🏻😃🖕🏻
Definitely agree with you Eddie, no momentum, each game is it’s own challenge win or lose you got to reset & adjust where needed.
The kings can honestly sweep if they would just play and pressure how they did the first 39 minutes, edmonton got absolutely nothing going until the Kings started to get complacent and sag back instead of pressuring
I love how impartial you are about the calls. There were plenty of calls that could have been made both ways. But sometimes those things just don't get seen. Can't wait for game two tonight!

The captains, coach would address the cross checking, etc in game. the organization representatives address the league with any foreseeable issues before the playoffs/series begins. Also between games.
Oilers fan here… good analysis I agree with pretty much everything you covered. I'm seeing the same things…I would have added that Foegele was screening Skinner on the winning goal when you, mentioned new Kings players to the rivalry.
Goaltending for LA could be an issue. need to see how game 2 plays out to know more. expect the oilers to start on time in game 2 and have a good 1st period. I think Pickard is scheduled to start game 3. Same goes for Kane
I wouldn't be surprised if McDavid and Draisaitl are on the same line to start the game. It can be effective if used sparingly. It has backfired in the past when leaned on too much. The guys get wore down from playing too many minutes

I hope Hiller gets the 4th line more involved in game 2. They only had 3-4 min ??? I know it was their first playoff game but those kinda minutes don’t allow players to get going. At least give Turcotte some more min. I fear Lewis is going to be inserted because of the goal line 4 gave up.
Quentin Byfield got away with a punch in the back of the head to McDavid. Both teams got away with a lot. I agree, though the first penalty of the game is pretty weak considering what they let go later.

In the Gretzky era kings, there was one season where, during the stanley Cup run, someone hours before the game at the forum placed their bare tushy right smack down on the center ice. When kings won the game, they continued the bizarre act until they finally lost the game. Does anyone out there remember this? I'm curious to see if the harmonica ladies will be back tonight.

My takeaways from Game 1:
– Thought the Kings had control of the game when they were skating and not stopping the clock. When more and more whistles kept getting blown, the Oilers had time to catch their breath.
– The empty net attempts let the Oilers back in the game. Wish LA would have put the puck off the boards at center ice and use their wheels to go get it.
– Corey Perry at the end of the game picked up the puck and skated off to the bench with it. A ref had to flag him down to get it back, before giving it to QB — who was late to celebrate with a Kuemper kiss. Summation: Corey Perry – once a jerk, always a jerk.
There was a tripping call on Perry that should have been called on one of the empty net tries……
Evander Kane in the lineup tonight, so I hope the Refs better be watching for the goon squad moves behind the play…..
