As far as competition goes between the Canes and the Stars it's not even close. Dallas is a MUCH better team. The Canes regular season is exactly like their playoff season, they can't elevate their game when it matters and it shows.
The big cats (meow) owning them is not impressive. The Oilers owning the Stars is much more impressive and if I were Maurice i'd be a little more concerned about that this year then last.

Kings fought us the hardest so far.
Clearly we're headed for Edmonton v. Florida. Four out of six of the top post-season scorers (by total points) are Edmonton. None (if memory serves or maybe 1 at most) are from Florida. Edmonton has depth, rush, hot goalie and belief/confidence.
I also harbor the suspicion McDavid and his team have been working on distributing the puck so they can score on more lines while he (McDavid) has kept his personal powder dry. I will not be surprised to see him warm up his stick more in this current series to roll in hot to Florida.
On the other hand the Panthers are something else … they can rush on turnovers too, solid defense, give no room in neutral ice, and damn it they don't lose their cool ever and do stupid stuff. Periodically Edmonton does e.g. game 1. Why the Oiler's coach didn't take a timeout and tell Edmonton to knock the penalties off …. jeez … in their world apparently time-outs never made it out of the background radiation of options.
The only other thing I think that's working for Edmonton is they have a bigger backbone in adversity. They've outworked, out thought their opponents from behind more than Florida. Florida isn't getting any hard practice right now with Carolina.
Well, anyway, the NHL has my McDavid jersey in the mail (not the signed one … that $1999.00) so I am beyond jazzed for the final. These are two serious, serious teams and Edmonton, I believe, will have their day in 6 games.

I'm sorry I haven't been around much…but given I'm a Canes fan, I'm sure you can understand why I've wanted to listen to as little Canes talk as possible the past week or so. Absolutely frightful.
This series has shown me that the Jets need a forward. Maybe a couple. The Jets should've been up against the Oilers. Dallas was always trash. I've also learned Connor Hellebuyck is a god. He carried a team without scoring talent.

It looks like both the Panthers and Oilers hit another gear after being down 2-0 to Toronto and LA. Both teams hit the switch and appear to be heading for a rematch.
As a Canes fan, i can take my team losing, but i can't take a team rolling over and dying. Watching Aho get assaulted, watching Blake get destroyed into the boards, and seeing all the other cheap shots that the canes have not punished Florida for… you can't take them any other way than the team is soft. Soft doesn't get you the cup. A comeback is out of the question, heck i called the series over after game one, but the Canes MUST muscle up some dignity, will, and self- respect and win a game. Just one.
