It’s infuriating to hear the commentators talk about Ottawa game 5 as ‘laying an egg’. They were down 1-0 with 10 mins left in the game. They were in the game the WHOLE time. They get scored on short handed and then two empty net goals.
Meanwhile, last night it’s 0-0 and Florida is laying the smack down for like 10 minutes and could have easily scored one, but they didn’t.
The rhetoric that Toronto hasn’t brought the same gameplay to every game (maybe minus game 5 Florida) is bonkers. In every single game, win or loss, they have had AMPLE opportunities to score. Breakaways, hit posts, huge saves by Bob. But they just didn’t score.
There’s a difference between being severely outplayed where you have no chances to score and then there are bounces that go one teams way and not the other.
The Leafs have not been so outplayed that they did not deserve bounces to go there way. In game 5 it was 0-0 until 5 mins left in the 1st when Ekblad scored. I think they hit the post twice on the same play before that point. If the puck bounced 1 mm to the left or right, it’s 1-0 Leafs.
Give me a break.
Leafs fans either don't care or don't understand that everyone hates them for the incessant whining..the refs owe them calls apparently..God I hope they get smoked game 7 as does the rest of the NHL fanbase

I think that's the first game I've watched where 16 was willing to take a hit to get to the puck. Thats what you need to do to win. If he can keep it up it will definetly improve their chances of reaching the next round. Having said that, I believe in my heart that leafs will lose game 7. This has always been the way…… Tie up the series and go home and lose. It's almost like tradition at this point. The pressure in Toronto in game 7s is not ideal for a team like this. We shall see though
Cmon boys give em some due. They are at game 7 vs the defending Stanley Cup Champions. The Cats had a bad first two games and the Leafs had a bad game 4 and 5. Lets win game 7 boys!

The goalie is part of the defence so Woll was just as much part of the shut out not just the defensemen.
We cant emphasize enough how important getting off to a good start is this round. The team who starts off well comes out on top of every game. The leafs (under Berube) and Panthers hockey for the past few years has been dictated so much by momentum that swings back and forth very hard. Hence why the Panthers stopped the oilers last year after getting annihilated in a few of those games. Its a pendulum
It's the fans who were cautiously optimistic after the first 2 games, Bunk and Sam were saying it's over so sorry Bunk, we knew it would be a rollercoaster.

Leafs played pissed off, especially Matthews. He was selling out all over the ice. He needs to play pissed off again in game 7. Leafs need to run more interference on zone entries, the rats do it every time we dump the puck in. Refs don't call this marginal interference in the playoffs. I think Robertson's game 5 "meaningless goal" was actually more valuable than we give it credit. It clearly meant something to Bob and the Florida team. I think that if Bob got another shutout he would have had more confidence in game 6 and would have made that save on Matthews. Also, while I don't want anyone to get hurt, I'd be lying if I said I didn't cheer when Bob got rocked by his own player. We gotta keep getting to him and making him uncomfortable – Domi and McMann deserve a lot of praise for doing this in game 6. Go Leafs Go!

Just an observation. I watched a Panther Pod (Fluffy Hockey) and the guy was ripping his team and sounding just like Leafs Talk after game 5. They didn't show up, lack of effort, Barkov….yeah great defence but would it kill you to score a goal…..Bennett trying to be cute and carry it in rather than dumping and chasing….waiting for the Leafs to quit. It was all very interesting to hear and I thought hey I just heard all this after the last game but it was directed at the Leafs.
