Been a proponent of breaking up the core 4 since 2020. But you gotta keep Tavares. and put him in the bottom 6 of this team if the price is right.
Problem of this team has been lack of character and clutch gene in top 6, and lack of talent in bottom 6. Put Tavares in bottom 6, and you're solving issue of lack of talent in bottom 6 at least.

Get rid of Tavares and replace him with Toews? That’s a start to change the dna. Unlike Tavares, Toews has actually won the big games and championships.

The bottom half of the roster isn’t good enough to make big scoring impact . That’s the whole point of breaking up the core. Not enough money to spend on good depth guys who can break open a game when it matters.
When the roster is constructed in the current way yes it is absolutely all on the top guys . Quit going in circles .
