Gavrikov and Fabbro are fits I would like to consider Perbix as well. I really wanted Kovacevic but NJD resigned him. Sharks have to significantly address their D both in FA and the draft and potentially via trade or their rebuild is going to stall out.
And while Ekblad would be a great addition his timeline and contract we expect might not be logical at this time.
As to the depth thing that’s what they said about 6 th round Joe Pavelski
So when we have a bunch of young D in the system we can’t rule out one or 2 being a lot more then they were though of at the draft I’d give the kids a chance at least at the ahl level before going long term on a free agent. Muk Cag’s Dickinson Pohlkamp Misskey Roberts Wallenius Hävelid that’s 8 guy’s that have been drafted that have yet to really seen an opportunity to show they can or can’t play
Fabbro does make a lot of sense. Sharks can offer him an overpayment for shorter term and he can take advantage of the enhanced opportunity like guys like Walman, Granlund, and Blackwood did.
Fabbro was picked up by Columbus last year on waivers… gotta wonder if the Sharks had a claim in as well but they already burned their number one waiver priority to claim Goodrow.
This is a reach but the Redwings aren’t happy with Justin Holl and a creator I just watched was talking about the possibility of buying him out he is on the last year of his deal RHD could the sharks take his contract off the redwings hands for a late pick only issue with him he has a 10 team no movement clause would he potentially wave it for max minutes and the potential to get the Walkman Ceci treatment and get to play for a cup contender when it matters
The 2025-26 floor won't be a problem, but the 2026-27 floor we need to spend like 51 million to hit. Grier gonna need to hand out contracts all over the place to make up for all the ELC players.
Interesting tidbit about CBJ potentially wanting to go younger with their defense. Fabbro is the main guy I want, but figured there would be no chance with CBJ's cap and how well he played this year. Fingers crossed
Walman was or still is the leading plus/minus +13 player for either dman or all players during this playoff.
One of the few times I felt Grier really missed was not picking up Fabbro off waivers.
The pain with which you talk about left handed d is hilarious
I’ll have one of Fabbro and Gavrikov, please. Lindgren? That’s a hard no!
Feels like Gavrikov or Fabro would be a great fits to bring up Dickinson. No way they let him for another season in the OHL because of that stupid rule. Take Fabro and pair him with Dickinson and put them on the 2nd line. Gavrikov would be great with Mukh on the 1st line. But those are dream scenarios Lol.
Fabbro absolutely yes, gavrikov yes if money is sensible. Lindgren no thanks.
Ferraro – Fabbro
Gavrikov – Nemec
Mukamadullian – Liljgren
I think at the trade deadline next year based off what you see on the ice you can trade or keep Ferraro. If you decide to trade Gavrikov is a great replacement.
Try to sign Gavrikov even if you have to over pay just keep the contract to a max 4 years.
Try to sign Fabbro to the best possible contract at a decent length since there is no right handed defenseman and age it’s not as a problem as having a lengthy Gavrikov contract.
Nemec seems like the one guy you can land on a trade I’d love for Grier to get Dobson but not sure if it will be possible or require a lot in return.
If Mike Grier gets those defensemen mixed with a good goalie partner for Askarov I think we can boost up in the standings to just the cusp of the wildcard spot. We would also need to land a Boeser or someone for Will Smith. Not sure how people feel about this idea but potentially have a trade with the blue jackets and get Elvis and maybe even get an additional asset due to the contract of Elvis. He’s a decent goalie way better than Georgiev 😂 I live in Columbus and played roller hockey against him and he’s a great fun guy could be a good locker room addition as well.
Nice episode JD, thanks! I agree with your thoughts and if GMMG was able to pull that off we’re gotta give him an A for the offseason in regards to the defense.
As another suggested and we all hope; may it be possible to get those two and trade for Nemec?
I would even love Nemec and Gavrikov!
Any news on Provorov?
The blue line is a mess. It would be malpractice to roll out the same pairings. Yes, some LD relief is coming, but, someone like Gabrikov would be welcome. Fabbro would be very welcome. Just get some good, proven nhl blue liners on next year’s roster! Good episode btw
Can Gavirkov play on the right side? There's at least some chance the organization has Dickinson, Mukh and Schaefer a month from now. The rest of the left side isn't the future (Vlasic, Thrun, Mario). But a 4 leftie line-up where one of the 3 can play on their off-hand makes sense. I'd pay up for Gavrikov, shorter term, more $. Lindgren looked kinda awful in the playoffs. The lone RHD in the org I'm optimistic about is Thompson.
Grier blew his chance on Fabbro and wasted assets on Liljegren. I don’t think CBJ is going to let him walk. Gavrikov will be an expensive buy but he can play either side on defense. Lindgren is like Vlasic, mid 30s Vlasic.
It would be an absolute coup if we grabbed both Gavrikov and Fabbro, but either one would be great
I like Brian Dumoulin as an option. He was solid last year especially with a shorthanded NJ team after he was traded. He's a two time Stanley Cup champion who can help mentor the young defenders.
Plus, he signed with Seattle for his last deal so we know he's not afraid to sign out west.
