  1. Keep in mind that the official statement from the Islanders was that Lou's contract was not being renewed. They officially didn't fire him, so he was allowed to finish out his contract as President/General Manager until his replacement was named. Ownership should have put restrictions on what he could do as far as extending contracts or resigning players. They should have had him run everything by John Collins first or just have let him go upon announcing that his contract wasn't being renewed.

  2. not going to stress over this until it is actually confirmed. if ends up being true, very unfortunate

  3. I rarely get mad at something that doesn't directly affect the on-ice performance, but this is nuts. How do you give out contract extensions to you underlings when you don't have one for yourself? Sorry but Lou was out of line here. How many years? On what day?

  4. This should be voided asap! Lifetime contract? With permission from owners to extend? Bullshit! Chris is Sheetz! Dump His Azz! Complete Joke!

  5. its pretty obvious that Lou did not get fired he is pretty much retiring. His contract ran out and at 80 knows its time to slow down. Therefore Islander ownership sees the glass half full not half empty. The Barzal injury gave the front office a pass. The probably would have made the playoffs if Mat was not hurt.

  6. I’m seriously about to pack it in. If that’s the case it’s obvious Darche isn’t running things. He just has the title and Lou still has control. So if true Darche isn’t off to a great start with the palmeri signing and now this.

  7. If Darche has balls he’ll do the right thing. Either that or they misspelled Darche and it should be Douche. I hope this isn’t true

  8. Chris Lamoriello has a contract, but the team has control of the contract as long as they keep paying him. Make him GM in charge of coffee and donuts. Also, does the organization have a director of player development? If not, get one, and get him to Bridgeport.

  9. No F’ ING way!! Darche honored the player contracts, can’t do the same for fredo. Who does louzer think he is? This is like brandon pardoning crackhead hunter!

  10. Boys, not only did Lou sign his Son, but the day he found out he was being let go, he fired the Head Equipment Manager, but kept the Assistants he used to have in Jersey.

  11. Guys, please stop. Multiple reports has Lou being the personal advisor to Malkin. This allows them to say that Lou will not stay with the team.his finger prints are over the kylp p signing and this

  12. He’s proven to be unqualified for this position, Lamarillo family has become a Joke in the NHL, you have to be really desperate to have anything to do with them

  13. These owners have been fantastic. They got us our building which no one else could do in 40 years. For that reason alone they should be enshrined in the Islanders Hall of Fame. They spend right up to the salary cap and they have never chintzed on spending. But this is the second major mistake they made.

Mistake #1: Malkin personally interceded with Snow and told him not to trade Tavares despite Snow telling him the guy is going to walk and we will be left with nothing.

Mistake #2 Keeping LL on as a "special advisor" to Scott Malkin. Let's say Darche wants to make a trade. But Lou tells Malkin its a bad trade. Malkin then tells Darche not to make the trade. So we end up with de facto TWO GMs. Darche makes a point during the presser how important developing our AHL pipeline is to maintaining a competitive NHL roster….but he's now saddled with someone not of his choosing. None of this bodes well.

Not to mention that Collins and LL hate each other so much that Collins literally stopped going into UBS. How is keeping Lou on helpful in any meaningful way?

  14. put him on a night shift as guard outside…Anything can happen then….Just saying…Lololololol!!!!

  15. Deal with it! It doesn’t mean anything. Sit down with Little Lou and his lawyer and settle it. Lou most likely never thought Malkin was going to move on. Chris will have nothing to do with Bridgeport.
