I assume the Jet for life is a promise to allow him to retire here. Which makes a ton of sense, as a carrot to big name UFAs to get them to stay
I think for Gabe, listen, i understand the injury risk, but if we can get the AAV down to 6.3 or something like that, then give him 5 or even 6 years, to give him some added security

A 2 year deal would def have Vilardi be a UFA, he’d be 27. 27 is the UFA age, but can be even younger if they’ve played 7 seasons, or aren’t given a qualifying offer
Gotta be careful signing all these guys line term especially when they are over 30! And if you do you gotta plug those holes quick since your telling your team your in win now mode( top 4 rd for Morrissey bottom ld and 2c plus round out the bottom 6 with quality) absolutely not to apples! I agree with the idea that the 1st rounder should be traded for another top 6 forward, specifically a C (if ehlers is retained). Horvat is an interesting mention. The isles are probably needing a retool since they are old team in decline that just missed the playoffs. I dont know how they make the cap work if they do sign ehlers and vilardi and samberg to big money contracts. Probably have to move out a few peices to make the money work. I can see Miller being expendable, but i dont know if thats enough money out to afford someone making that kind of AAV.
Lowry with Ehlers and Nino would be a sick 2nd line. Perfetti can drop down with namestnikov and whoever.
I still think the jets should try to trade for jared McCann from seattle. His AAV for the next 2 years is 4.5m, he has 3 straught seasons +60p. He has trade protection however. And seattle would need to be wooed. Probably, 1st round pick, lambert, kupari and miller(to make the money work). But seattle might want more experience over ulside in a trade. If i was francis(is he their gm), i would ask for yager and a first and a second with miller. But even then francis would be committing to a long road to contention.
Another scenario. Does anyone remember the supposed deal that almost came to fruition last summer where i believe they almost sent perfetti and i wanna say Mcgroarty to carolina for necas.
So i was trying to think outside the box, big move. Here's some ideas:
1st , Barlow/Lambert, Miller to buffalo for Tuch. He has one year left at 4.5m and can't see a reason he stays in buffalo.
And then trying to think big,
Perfetti, Demelo, Miller, Lambert and 1st to the Isles
For Dobson, Horvat.
I dont know if whoevers in cbarge in NY makes this deal but they need to make some changes and get younger.
