Hi Jessie, I hope you can discuss more about the Morgan situation, we know the coach remove him from pp1 and GM was saying the priority is to obtain a puck moving defence therefore a lot of fans and myself do agreed moving 44 is on the top of the list for improvement of the `Leafs otherwise this problem will continue next season. There are only 3 options 1. Buy him out if he don’t remove his no trade although this sounds crazy however this might be better than keeping him if he insists not to weave his no trade 2. Force him or beg him to weave his no trade 3. If Leaf’s management don’t accept option 1&2 they will bare the consequences for fans continue to complain Morgan deficiency , continue using 5 forward PP1 because if Morgan stay they have no cap Space to acquire a legit offensive Defenceman , I hope they had learned their lesson from 2023 summer to keep Mitch before his no trade kicks in , since Dubas had given Morgan a full no trade for them to remove 44 they must think out of the box can’t be a gentleman otherwise they will be fire too.
Peterka is better than everyone of leafs except Matthews and Nylander. No way he goes to leafs, you have nothing to offer
Leafs aren’t winning anything with Rielly as our #1 d man. I would approach him to see if he would be willing to waive it. If not I would 100% do a buyout. Some other team will sign him to like 4-5 mill a year

This is a obvious hot take but I’d love for the leafs to be able to move Morgan Reilly for Bowen byram + so that way they can regain assets, get younger, have a defensemen who is capable of being an offensive defensmen for a less cost per year, Reilly has never been a number one d man for the leafs that can play a complete 2 way game yet he’s being paid like it because of his loyalty (which I understand partially) if byram was able to be given the same role or even a bit less and be able to spread the minutes out more to o.e.l. Or any other dman to contribute evenly.
People bashing Marchessault here are funny, scored 40 1 season ago and won the Conn Smyhe, he’s at a very reasonable cap hit, automatic 20+ goal scorer, barely misses any games and shows up in the playoffs.

The Leafs overpay so much the core 4, they could sign just by having Tavares sign a team friendly esque deal. Or by not signing Marner you’d get nearly 3 guys like him.
