@Predators de Nashville

1. I want the Preds to win with THIS roster, but Trotz definitely sounded like some big changes might happen soon-ish if things don’t go well quickly.

  2. What I find most alarming is that even if Preds manage to raise the bar next season, Central shows all signs of turning into a monster like present Atlantic div. Its going to be a battle of attrition where every game will be important.
    Chicago wont stay as bad as they have been much longer. Utah are starting to get the grip of it. Wild are finished with those horrible Suter and Parise contracts and have big $ to spend strengthening
    their allready respectable roster.
    Its gonna be more brutal than ever.
    Preds for sure gotta floor it this summer

  3. The start of the season i was really worried exactly this was going to happen (obviously not this bad though). The offense was actually generating like men on fire in those early games they just had atrocious luck, but out of the gate they looked like they had the firepower we thought they would. When their PDO was so god awful i was like "please dont let this bad luck break them..", they needed to keep doing what they were doing and just smooth out the roughness, but they didnt do that. They got discouraged and abandoned the system. Stamkos agreed with this, he says they all started going their own ways after that unlucky start. The same thing happened last season too, just the buy in and turnaround came sooner than like the final 5 games of the season and the first half wasnt quite as bad

  5. AK/EL, great points, here is the common denominator–Barry and this roster construction and what he has repeatedly said "veterans holding it down WITH the young guys—threading the needle–that's the plan!" Seriously, what young player (CURRENTLY) is a "guy" or "guy" or even "contributer" where is the needle threading—the gap bridging? I like Svech, and a few of the other guys….Luke. This is not hokey-pokey with roster construction that's not how a roster is built. You look at every organization around the league and if you are saying that Barry is doing a blend of veterans and rookies (some of which got little to no run) and you want to hold veteran players accountable—well you can't do one without then other and at the same time have a completely square peg round hole with this system and the coaching staff. There are teams doing this same thing that Barry says—they are just doing it differently and better and that's why they are in the playoffs. It can't happen—on top of that not to throw the negative gasoline but this franchise, outside of defensemen and goalies (and outside of Fil whom we traded for) has really never produced an elite forward/center/winger to play this "style" that Bruno wants to play. Buy-in? The players didn't even have a sell in lol—or a 50% off in. If you hold Steven Stamkos accountable for his pointless streak how's that work? It wasn't done—because Bruno also has his job on the line (which in my opinion, he should not have kept)…and I get that…buyers remorse here but Barry made error here and it's inexperience and short sightedness. This is why not every good to great head coach is a great executive. Michael Jordan and probably some others you could name. Because you were a great player or you played the game (Patrick Ewing's tenure as Georgetown coach–yikes) does not mean you will automatically become a great executive. It's the old "you can't go home again" theory in sports….sometimes you have to be forward thinking and go outside the box of your self-contained bubble. Love Barry–love David—did a lot of great things for the franchise but "you can't go home again" especially in an ever evolving and changing league. You do not buy "buy in"—you do not buy "playoff contender playoff Cup contender" NOW Barry has kind of dug this hole. This team is talented—is this a 30-44 non playoff team. I don't think so but that's what the record bore out. The underlining 110% issue is that from the 3 main components (management, coaching, players)…VERY little looked like a well oiled machine.
