This is a rough offseason for me to think out. We have to spend money. But I don’t want us forced into changing plans.
Way things are looking. We’re building a great base. Our cap situation is great. We’re set up to build and contain the future team for years to come if played smart.
I’d prefer at this point, trying to get that price contact. A couple solid signings like toffoli. But only a couple, and really like granlund and wennburg. Short term and planned to be moved.
Also while we didn’t really take advantage this year. We’re going to be top pick in waivers for beginning of season. Can possibly add there as well if spots left open.
Love all the abundance new podcasts coming out.
Hudson winning over Celebrini sorta reminds me of when Skinner won over Couture. Logan ended up the better player.
Can’t wait for Misa!
This was a wild year for Rookies, 3 with 60 point seasons
There’s about 8 goalies in the last 5 years with a better save percentage than Wolf that had less votes for Calder I don’t really get it. All/most younger than him as well.
Just like Utah is putting disinformation or false-intel out there about them liking Brady Martin, trying to entice another team lower than them to trade up to 4…. I feel pretty confident the Islanders are doing the same thing with Schaefer, trying to entice the sharks to over-pay to trade up to 1.
The Islanders need scoring, they need Misa. Their future offense needs more draft capital spent right now than their future defense.
AND, the small sample size of Schaefer makes Misa the more secure pick, which is what teams want with a #1 pick -security/definitiveness… they don’t want any gamble in a #1 overall pick, which there is just the slightest bit of less-security in taking Schaefer over Misa this draft, because of the difference in sample sizes in their draft year.
The Islanders are going to draft Misa at 1. The Sharks should just stand pat at 2, and we have a good chance to get Schaefer anyway. And even if we don’t, we’re not losing anything by getting Misa at 2 instead. It’s worth the ‘gamble’ to not trade up (if it’s even a ‘gamble’ at all).
The Islanders are going to do the dumbest thing possible, and not trade down to 2 for Misa & extra assets. They’re going to get NO extra assets, and take the guy they actually want anyway with Misa at 1… the dumbest possible thing they could do. They’re going to say the trades offered weren’t good enough to move to 2 and take Misa, so they’ll take Misa at 1 (which makes literally ZERO sense, because they know it’s a guarantee the Sharks would take Schaefer at 1. So they should just get whatever they can to move to 2 and take the guy they’re going to take at 1 anyway.
—> But I really think they’re not going to and that they’re going to take Misa at 1.
Which, as a Sharks fan, is the best possible outcome. We don’t lose a single asset, and we get our defenseman at 2 😎)
👉Or, if Schaefer goes at 1, I’d be cool with trading #2 to Chicago for #3, Rinzel, and pick #34.
Then we can trade 33 & 34 to move up to like 20 and take Hensler maybe.
Come out of the draft with Martone, Hensler, Rinzel, and maybe Ryabkin (@ 30).
Good speculation, but i doubt a new GM goes rogue at #1 overall. All the pundits are saying Shaeffer. Get ready for Misa as the 2C of the future.
Great episode y'all. Thank you again for your work.
