I wouldn't trade JG unless it was a no brainer. He's good on faceoffs, back checks and can score. Why trade him for nothing or for little value. Your not getting their 1st and even if it is a 2nd, you're getting a role player who isn't NHL ready

Clearing the Pageau $5M alone is worth it. He has been a shell of himself for years now. If Boston gave us their 2nd round pick, I make that trade in a heartbeat. It would be an early second rounder. The biggest win of the trade is just clearing his $5M off the cap for next season.
I'd wait until the trade deadline, they'll probably get a better return then.
Assuming Barzal is on first line, Id rather see them trade out Holmstrom, DeClair or Lee and Mayfield, still saving 7-10 million and retaing "precious" center depth. Assuming also one buy-out we all know Roy hates. Reason, Nelson and his 25+ goals need replaced, and likely Richie is no more than a 10-15 as a rookie 2C. If he fails who else could temp into the 2C? That makes 3C all that more important as Cizikas is a clear declining 4C supporting McClean and Gatcolm/Martin(maybe 1 more before coaching call). 😢

I think he has more value at the deadline. That said if we get an early second and a prospect, I am good with it. Would like to see if there is a market for Pelech and Engvall.
