I think I get the message here. The time to win is now. And how does this get accomplished? By making as much noise as possible during the offseason and at the trade deadline.
So guess I was wrong on the Hughes brothers ? Paper mache.
FITZ is a PUTZ. Five years and the team is NOT better. Its just different. New coach same issue. NO real depth and not enough actual NHL level players. Consistency. Not.
Hamilton. Trash
Pallot. Buyout
Miere. Downward spiral.
Tartart. Waste of cap.

Lou made some big moves during the season, often controversial, during the dynasty. I don’t want to be a has been fan, I want a team to be proud of now!

All i will say is, this all falls on Booze face Fitz to make moves, trades, sell or buy this offseason. Because he's got 4 1/2 months to put together a team THAT has playoff blood in there veins.
Great points brother, but what can we do? The owners and the management have minds of their own and they suck😢
So I'm on the same page as far as "win now". However, I believe this is the tip of the iceberg. There are specific underlying issues that serve as road blocks. Players must want to be here. Money is fine, but will only get you soo much in a salary cap league. So (at least) 3 things must be met.
1) Nostalgia. Players come to a franchise because it's where they grew up. It's the team they loved as a kid. I got brothers or family there, etc. This creates discount membership.
2) Attractive location. Players love the big cities, low or no taxes, great weather, national pride, etc. This creates discount.
3) the last one the Devils can obtain is a "best chance to win". This is the hardest to obtain (think dynasty type). Players want to go somewhere where they KNOW they can win now, or be the final puzzle piece.
Devils truly have none of these options. They were close to "dynasy" which brought players for a while, but it's gone. Fitz can't build a franchise like a top 5 gm, and will be forced into full or overpriced players. They are competing with other teams while being handicapped. This is why I have a hard time believing proper long term success can be built here soon. Not a loser mentality, just a realistic expectation.
P.S.: To be very clear, I am in no way giving Fitz defense. He still shows he can't get the job done, especially when it's obviously needed.
Ownership stopped Fitz from bringing in Hall cause it would have affected jersey sales 😂

The common theme among the final 4 teams is they have star players who aren't injured. Ace continues to beat a dead horse out of pure hope. Our highest paid players are not as good and durable as other teams highest paid players. Blow up the core.
Fitzy will fix the bottom 6. Once this happens it will be up to the players to stay healthy.
Watching the Panthers smash the Canes around last night was sweet. Fingers crossed for the sweep.

Ace, two things:
1) did you see that Aho goal last night where he kicked it in through his legs? Nico had a goal just like that 2 years ago and they disallowed it and Nico was even more clear there was no kicking motion.
2) I think we have the team we need. We just need Dougies cap space and to add 2 top 9 players that are good for 20+ goals and have speed.
I don’t see how anyone can argue with anything you said in this video. Fitz needs to get his hands moving and fucking get shit done this summer and DURING the season. I’m not going to say if we don’t win a cup next year it’s a total failure. But I gotta see us make a push and run during the playoffs. Bare minimum I want a second round 7 game war that could go either way. That’s the bare minimum though. What I really need to see is us get to the conference finals.
I am beyond pissed off at Tom Fitzgerald. If we added one or two more scoring depth players, we would have beat (Carolina) and we match up way better against the capitals and the Panthers, we would have been in the freaking Stanley Cup final if he wasn’t a complete and utter asshole. Watching the canes get spanked yesterday by the Panthers reminded me just how close we really were to hoisting Lords Stanley Cup. What a joke that he sat on his ass and did nothing. Ace, you nailed it from the beginning, brother! I cannot wait for another season if we get these two new top nine players, we will be a legitimate contender.

Panthers are gonna wipe the floor with the Canes..but yeah I agree completely. Fitz really needs to get his head out of his ass. He has not made a good in season move since bringing in Timo. The last 2 seasons, he sat on his hands and did jack shit.

Idk ace Tom fitz is about as useless as you can get as a GM he’s gonna sign players that want to play here instead of signing players that will help the team

Great or should I say good GMs make apples for apples chemistry trades during the regular season to change up chemistry. The NJ Devils aren't going to move forward until they make a GM change.
The problem is also with the owners, they hired a young GM with very little experience. Harris and Blitzer don't see it, they aren't hockey guys. We finally had a good line up in 2022. Where is it? It's gone —– POOOOOF! Thanks to the GM.
Make some serious trades. Bratt and Hughes are a smallish duet, EU and injury prone. Real Devil gfans remember what it takes to win cups. Look back tot he players and grit we had in the 90s and early 2000s.
This guy is spot on other than seeing Bratt, Hughes and Hischier as a cup winning nucleus. . I can't even watch him without changing the channel the Youtube because it is frustrating to hear someone else say way I think. Lemieux and Mogilny were two of my favorites.
