The whole sequence was caused by the ref getting in the way just before this clip starts. If that doesn't happen, Oilers would have taken it in regulation.
This shouldn't have even happened this way. Directly preceding this there was a Panthers icing with their goalie pulled, as per the rules you're not allowed to make any line switches during an icing, Panthers should've been forced to take the faceoff 6 on 5 in their own zone.
