  1. Florida wont offer marchand more than what he was getting on his contract with the bruins. Personally i would prioritize bennett and ekblad due to age. However ekblad has been so so in the finals against Edmonton plus his ped. The only one who should take a paycut if he wants to stay with florida. Bennett fits so well with florida same with marchand plus that 3rd line is just deadly.

  2. Interesting to note that Leafs could have had Marchand + Bennett instead of Marner and still save 500K.
Of course, if Leafs would have signed them, each of them would have been signed to a 10M contract.

  3. Either player agents pay TSN to come up with these ridiculous claims, or these guys are just trying to inflate the value of free agents on division rivals so Toronto hopefully doesn't have to run into as stacked of a team in playoffs next year. In what world is a near 40 year old coming off of a sub 50 point season and under 30 goals for 3 years straight worth $8M? I don't care how hot he's been in playoffs, that is ludicrous.

  4. And that is why the Leafs are in the mess they are in. They overpay everyone and do not get results. The Florida Panthers do not have this problem.

  5. Ekblad is going to get 10 million when with his PED. There is not a lot of high end d man that comes up in UFA. Winnipeg is cooked if they can’t resign Ehlers because no free agent wants to come to the Peg. So it’s not like they can lure a UFA to come.

  6. B's fan. It's a complicated issue, for sure. Marchand still producing at around 0.75 points per game, even in his 35+ years. That is significant; there's a lot of bums out there making more who are doing less. Even though he has had surgeries/injuries, he doesn't seem to be slowed by them – this playoff being a case in point. The B's offered him about 3.5 mil and a 2-year term; Sweeney and the Jacobs are notoriously cheap. The case could be made that he stays in FLA, and that Zito takes notice and rewards his consistent production. One way around all of this is an incentive-laden contract 8no matter where he ends up, though it is unlikely to be in TO); a base salary and a variety of benchmarks that could add up seem reasonable to both sides…

  7. His agent will say yes…but I don't see it. I'm a huge fan of his. I know he pushes the boundaries and has done some stuff that you just shake your head at but I would definitely want him on my team. But if he really wants a 2 or 3 year deal I think you need to keep it at like 6 at the most. It's hard to believe he will be great for the entirety of the contract so give term with less cap hit to lesson the blow.

  8. Why would any team pay a almost 40 yo thay kind of money. Sports saleries are stupid just like the morons that pay them.

  9. I would give Marchand 7×3 no problem with the cap going up it would be like him getting 5mil. The on ice and off ice presence he would bring to this leafs lineup would be huge. Leafs have to get him if he’s willing to come.

  10. SO you list EVERYTHING about the player EXCEPT their age , which arguably affects their play more than anything !!!!!
