Marchand was a great get in Florida. But remember he's doing this with Florida. Toronto doesn't have the mindset, pedigree, or most importantly third line that Florida does. In Boston he was expected to be one of their best players. In Toronto he wouldvhave that same expectation.
Will he have two lines of big bruising stars like Barkov, Bennett, Ekblad, Reinhart, Tkachuk, or Forsling in front of him. Will he have a guy like Lundell or Louisteranen with him? Will he have a goalie like Bob? A coach like Maurice and a group like Florida who embraces him and lets him know he can be himself, but he doesn't have to carry the squad?
In Floruda he is a luxury. It's why he could sit out the end of the seadon to get his body right. It's why he can come in at 37 fredh as a daisy. It's why he can be a first line quality guy playing against third line guys.
Marchand will sign with Florida for less than you'll think, cause no state tax.
You meat heads think Marchand has anything on his mind other than the cup? Probably why the leafs never make it far, too worried about next years money.

Marner plays the hardest minutes in the game. He will be extremely difficult to replace. Neither Nylander or Tavares can be subbed in for Marner.

Marner is not a team first player. He’s a contract first player. Hes probably made 10-20 million from endorsements in Toronto. He’s number one in the NHL in endorsements. Leaving Toronto he’s losing money. 8 year contract + endorsements. That’s just a fact. Marchand is a gamer. This guy performs in the playoffs.
