Gil, I 100% agree with trying to add Robertson. Dobson and Col 1st, I'd be willing to trade to FINALLY get that legitimate 1st line goal scoring forward. This draft lottery win is a whole lot bigger than just that 1st overall pick. Schaefer, as Dobsons replacement, allows us to trade for a need that's been….NEEDED for years. Every summer, we've missed out on that 1 player that'll give us a dangerous 1st line and score on the pp!…

30 saves isles bacon way too much. Not even near playoff line without 30. Isles could give lennox a good look in camp. And 40-moved or bought out? If 40 can't play anymore sell his cap hit to a team needing cap $$$'s and find a cheap better short term back up g. And to become playoff caliber isles need to upgrade that slow ass pop gun offense up front. And what does mammoth have that isles want outside of a drop to 4? Utah had a bunch of picks first three rounds but they are all gone now. Utah does have plenty of cap space. And to trade down to four just to take hagens who may go three to hawks leaves isles with martone after passing on misa would be the fkn dumbest thing to do. Unless isles keep one and move something to mammoth to get 4? Utah not looking for d men and gmba wants top six and goalie help so no to 8 and hagens may fall to them anyway if isles pass on misa cause misa doesn't get past hawks at three. Utah is a bad trade partner and kerfoot, crouse being shopped isles don't want and doesn't get utah to one which mammoth want to take misa. It seems a lot of teams want to make a move to get a shot at misa including hawks and flyers too at 5. Take note darche.
Only deal that makes sense which probably wont happen is to drop down to 2 and get near nhl fwd. and 30 or 33 from sj with other pieces and take misa. If sj offered dickinson without those picks i'd jump on that if they really want schaefer. Dickinson is a better version of 8 then 8 could be moved for assets. j rob perhaps? Dickinson, misa on isle pp would make it lethal. Isles need to get better up front, more skilled, and younger. – 8, 10, 27 or 44 or both. Add misa, dickinson, j rob, all 25 and under would do just that. Could still get assets for 27, 44.or 8, 10 in a deal.
And if isles do the stupid thing locking in on hagens even with schaefer who are not nhl ready that does nothing for next season, And hagens would be pr stunt to sell local kid to fan base. You don't draft build a team that way. You take the player that in isles case fits their biggest need up front who could play in nhl next season. And its not hagens. Go watch ohl awards when misa MOPs up with 3 awards including mop and already talked about moving on after three ohl seasons. This shows the run it back philosophy of the louzer still lurking in the shadows still exists on isles as they look for a quick fix deal while drafting a not ready for nhl bpa or local kid to sell some tickets
And m. schneider. Had a short stint on declining isles as the other part of don baloney's ridiculous sneaky pete for muller trade which included malakov too. Isles had kaspar and lachance and after milbury acquired k. jonsson, berard isles should have had a pretty good d to end the '90's. Until milbury went trade bonkers and moved kaspar for smolinski, berard for f. potvin, lachance and bertuzzi for t. linden. I believe schneider was part of the w. clark deal that got isles 5th pick in '97 e. brewer taken after luongo at 4 by isles.
Gil….I wouldn't trade our 1st for the 4th and players from Utah… Our 1st for Dickinson and Sjs 2nd overall is probably the only deal I'd make.

I am beginning to HATE James Hagens BC of all the oxygen he is sucking up. He isn't that good & if Iskes manged to get 4th overall pick U STILL SHOULDNT TAKE HAGENS. Schaffer is by far best player & is needed. Anything else is a disappointment.
Also, I don't want the smurf. This team is small & soft enough.
I’ve had 8 back surgeries. Depending what he had done would depend on reoccurring issues. If it was something like a discectomy he may be fine

No quick fix for the Islanders . Trade whatever vets they can and play the kids. Ritchie should make the team this year and their #1 pick 9 (Misa or Scahafer). Eiserman and Nelson should be ready by next year.

Good points about the goalie situation. Worst case scenario perhaps they try a 3 goalie rotation where Sorokin plays 3 or 4 games then Varly takes 1 or 2 Hog takes 1 then they go back to Sorokin. I agree Darche shouldn’t trade the pick with any team other than maybe San Jose, unless the very unlikely scenario of players named Connor Mcdavid or Sam Bennett are part of the deal.

They need a backup goalie they can count on because Ilya Sorokin can't do it all, AND THE ISLANDERS KNOW IT. Matheiu Darche met with the UT 🦣 GM, Bill Armstrong, about making a possible deal. Darche also met with Cameron Schmidt of the Vancouver Giants of the WHL. He's 5'7, and he's feisty, but if you're going to play in the NHL at 5'7,HE HAS TO BE. HAPPY 🎂 MATHEIU SCHNEIDER. He was with the Canadians when they won their last Stanley Cup with future Head Coach, Patrick Roy. He scored the GW and an assist in a win over Buffalo. Good morning team! Gil, always a pleasure. Thanks for my Islanders hockey fix each day. For me, I'm solid on the goalies we have. Meaning Sorokin and Hogberg. We know Sorokin can play, but he can't get into another burned out situation. We seen brilliance from Hogberg as well, but he needs to get games in to continue to play at that level. This is the best case scenario for us. Sorokin plays 3 games, depending on the schedule and back to back games and Hogberg plays one to two games, depending on the schedule and back to back games. I think this kind of play for them keeps them sharp, rested, and engaged in each and every game. Now that we're stopping the puck, let's go get some defense and goal scorers. Thanks again, Sir. Gm Gil. Bold and Islanders are mutually exclusive. I just don't see real change coming until the team deals with the numerous underperforming players with contracts that give the team little flexibility short of forcing players onto wavers instead of buyouts to deal with the no trade clauses. The Rangers used that successfully to get players off their books.
One of the issues that I have had with Roy is in how handles Sorokins work load. He tends to over work Soroking typically over 6-8 week and then and only then decides sorokin needs rest. Roy needs to better manage sorokins work load with regular rest. I like Varlomov but at 37 and a history of soft tissue injuries this is now a chronic rather than acute problem. The only question with him is whether he will be injured for 2 weeks or 2 months. Darche needs to find quality back up
Draft Schaefer Go get Marner, continue drafting and drop salary of vets as we replace them. This isn’t rocket science 🧪 Eiserman Nelson and other good prospects on their way. We don’t need a major overhaul or a stupid trade.
Strongly disagree on Sorokin. Overrated goalie. Crumples in pressure situations. Lets in far too many dribblers and bobblers under, over, and through him. I subscribe to the Ray Ferraro school of goalie strategy: you don't need the best in the league, but you can't have the worst.

I don’t even care to mention that guys name again—-signing Palmeri, (no trade this year) son, friend and scouts? Speechless! Robertson? Man I’d do Dobson and Colorado number 1 in a heartbeat. A prime sniper? Kidding me? I’m reluctant to giving Marner 14m. He’s only had one 100 point season. And I believe 28/29 goals on that offensive team? I can’t do that Gil. Bennet is insane, he’s gonna get paid and I highly doubt we can get him. Gil sandpaper!! Go get Frederic and Brazeau——that’s major sandpaper!! Major!! I’d rather have those tough kids over Fasching, Baby Mac. I think Frederic/Gatcomb/Brazeau would be hell! Gil, Misa does not want to come here I don’t think. I’ve soured on him because of that. Getting this young man and Hagens would be a game changer for us! I’d trade with Utah to get Hagens—-no one is untouchable except for Sorokin/Barzie/Ritchie/Eiserman and these two kids. I just read the following in the New York Post: "Anaheim is also taking on all of Kreider’s $6.5 million cap hit over the next two seasons, on account of the organization needing to spend more than $14 million this offseason to reach the cap floor." Wouldn't it be great if we were able to move Anders Lee, and his last year at $7 million, in order to clear much needed cap space, the way the strangers moved Kreider? I realize Kreider is a better hockey player than Lee, but their has to be other teams out there looking to get take on salary in order to reach the cap floor? Seattle, Utah, Chicago, ANYBODY? if it takes holmstrom and the avalanche 1st next year to get Utahs 4 and draft hagans you do it. Better upside. Sick of this team just half measuring everything with the same players and being okay with making the playoffs and losing in the first round. I'd rather them suck next year and get another high lottery pick and go into 2026 season stocked with young talent from this draft (Schaeffer and Hagans) with Eiserman and Ritchie
