  1. He is worth at least as much as Mcmuffins next contract, give him 18×8! And a full no trade!

  2. I don’t know if he signs this, but if I’m the Habs, I offer him a 3-4 year deal (whatever gets him to UFA) for $7.75M AAV.

  3. He is not going to give a discount. Top 4 got their cash for winning nothing and he knows the heavy lifting will be on his shoulders.

  4. The risk is the offer sheet for like 7x9mil or something which the leafs would match but it would hurt them a bit more going into free agency

  5. I would be surprised if he doesn’t sign a 3-5 year bridge deal. Cats fan here so I am objective

  6. Treliving said he wanted a DNA change? Why he doesn’t do anything about it? Sign Knies Tre! What are you waiting for? Knies to the Flames then?

  7. I think Marner signs in Anaheim and Knies signs an offer sheet (both 7 years) and the leafs can’t match because they’ve locked up Tavares for 7 mil and aren’t willing to pay Knies 10mil at this stage.

  8. No reason Maple Leaf fans be concerned? I can't believe you just said that. With all the terrible contracts that have been negotiated in the past 10 years you're telling us we shouldn't be concerned by this? Is that some sort of joke? If this was a normal franchise with normal contract demands we would be totally fine. I am sick to death watching the Leafs not use their leverage and I really hope this time around that they do and if he has to sit or he thinks about signing an offer sheet then I would entertain letting him go. This has to stop.

  9. Dubas still haunts the team, they have a percendent now. Knies knows with Marner walking they have tons of extra cap space and can't afford to let him walk now. With the whole Marner leaves they have to pay him whatever he wants.

  10. This is what we call the consequences of a horrible team culture, both within the locker room and in management. Leafs have made their team a place where good players feel they deserve phenomenal player money, and a place where failing in the playoffs is totally acceptable behavior. Knies is exactly what this team needs, but unsurprisingly, he wants big star money like Nylander and Matthews have. Why? Because he's actually a better performer in the playoffs than either of them and so why shouldn't he be paid like them. Man oh man, this team is cooked, and for a while too.

  11. A good deal is a deal with the Jets. Knies wants to play with a winner like Toews, not cowardly losers

  12. Knies 8 x 8 or 6 x 4. I still would like to see them spend $ on Bennett $10 mil and Marchand $ 7 mil lol

  13. Most Canadian born players don't want to play in Canada and if less in Toronto, So yes leafs will need to pay up to keep Knies for now, but at some point he will want to make us way back down South

  14. I love Knies but let him go ahead and sign any offer sheet…. we could use the picks (even a trade bait). If he signs, it means he wants to go… no hard feelings and good luck

  15. June 22 is not early June. But yeah it’s not a worry. I’d assume with Marner leaving they’re concentrating on what FA targets they’re going to target atm and then I’d assume we’ll see a Knies extension in early** July

  16. No surprise. Knies wants a short term deal and the Leafs want to lock him in for 8 years. With the cap rising short term deals are the new thing

  17. 1) Jessie doesn't want to talk about the culture problem in Toronto, but instead the low-hanging fruit of another contract. 2) Leafs screwed up when they didn't trade Marner. 3) While the Leafs were good enough to beat Florida, and losing Stolarz was objectively horrible, (Woll is no slouch), the issue is with the core-5 (I'm including Reilly) who have SEVERLY underperformed in the playoffs versus the regular season.

  18. You think maybe one of the reasons the contracts in Toronto are inflated is that every goddamn step of the negotiation process is disected like this?

  19. This is hilarious lol. Guy learned from the other greedy roster players. Oh Toronto, maybe win a cup in 2067?

  20. I’d rather make a hard stance against handing out huge contracts, and take a step back. Than hand out big contracts and get killed in game 7s every year
