I thought he was slightly over paid for most of his career and now giving back is a good thing plus a sacrifice so they can acquire another good player. He has a high IQ. Can only be good for the organization. His skills have diminished just a tad.

Stamkos at the same age and similar production signed with Nashville for 4 years, 8 million per and the cap has gone up. Tavares left A LOT of money on the table to stay and win here.
