   A great move by the habs. They already have a deep pool and they didnt need some b to c tier prospects. Gives them a major piece to elevate that team for next year, matheson is surplus to move for a top 6 winger. Safe to say the habs are looking like early offseason winners. Bit more rich than i would have gone but the cap is going up and he is still very young. Great move by the habs.

   Islanders i admit this is a gamble that i really dont love. No guarantee you even get high enough in the top 10 with those picks alone. I worry they also dont get their guy and get stuck holding the bag. Its ultimately what rfa would have netted you but its a huge gamble where i feel if worst case they stay at 16 and 17 then they get stuck with some guys i wouldnt say have a high chance of panning the way the team needs. Im not the biggest believer in this fo so i will wait and see but i dont have a lot of trust they get this right.

    Dobson had issues last year because the Islanders were/are shit. He's going to a team with more actual potential. My guess is that Dobson saw the young, talented roster of MTL and wanted a piece of that.

    You’d be surprised what a player like Dobson can do back in Canada, in front of fans who are fired up and already know him from his QMJHL days. I’ll be honest—it won’t be pretty when the Islanders come to play here. This isn’t Long Island. We don’t mess around in MTL.

    Has a Habs fan, I'm very happy about the deal. I think Matheson will get traded when Reinbacher will be ready to step up.

    But I wonder about NYI direction. I thought Darche didn't want to rebuild, but trading Dobson pretty much force them to.

    Dobson was a panic move still need a centre but I’m hoping it is setting up for another trade or a free agent signing like a Duschane to bridge to Hage but better than Col over paying Nelson

    I think the habs are just trying to get the young core to grow and add maybe a couple ideal players for specific positions (like Dobson) for a role that they need.

    well folks we are in the era where you can regress and Canadian teams will still massively overpay you to play there lol..we will soon look at this contract as the reason Montreal will now have to pay Hutson 12M next year as well because this sets the bar in Montreal for blueliners and paydays
