I usually will want to give a prospect some time to develop before trashing a pick but holy shit is this a terrible pick and waste of premier assets. Using 2 1sts/12th pick on a prospect like Nesbitt is malpractice. There are a few tall project 20-35 ranked prospects like Nesbitt every year and pretty much all of them bust every time. They become nothing way more than they become core guys. See Morin/Ratcliffe … They shouldnt be taken anywhere in top 20 let alone 12th. This is likely Morin 2.0 and will Eklund/Bear/Smith will be Morrissey/Pulock etc.

Goddamn Flyers fans are always so doom and gloom, with absolutely no optimism. Yeah, I get it, the Flyers have sucked for a long time now, but damn, you guys act like they just wasted the pick that would have mostly certainly been used for the one guy that would single handedly win the Stanley Cup for them for the next 10 straight.
The trade was too "rich"? They swapped their 22 pick for 12, and it cost them their 31st overall. That's not a massive loss like you all seem to think. They now pick #36, #40, and #48. It's not a big loss, not enough to fkin roast this guy and the organization.

Pens fan here. I think you guys aced it. Getting Martone & drafting up( in a weak draft) to get Nesbitt is a win. Sadly the Pens GM is a dumbass that got fleeced in a weak draft!
6’5 center and a point per game. Who is available after him that fit that mold. Nobody. At least one other GM was taking Nesbitt “soon” after 12. It’s not a reach when you have no centers with size in the organization and nobody will trade them. Good move

Isaac Ratcliffe 2.0 could have had Bear or Aitcheson or anyone else of best available. This trade sucked this pick sucked. Briere and his scouts SUCK.
I am a huge Flyers fan pretty much since I was 4 in 1967 and was clueless about the game till my Dad explained it to me. I have followed and watched this franchise ever since. While I'm still no expert on evaluating player talent. I am also extremely aware of the fact that there have been tens of thousands of players that Scouting Bureau's, Draft experts, Team evaluators, and just about everyone in the know either got right or has gotten wrong. Players who became Superstars or at least well above average. Or those that were sure fire can't misses who went the opposite way. So I will always reserve judgement before I criticize a drafted player. I can start with one's who weren't highly regarded: Luc Robataille, Dominic Hasek, Pavel Datsyuk, Daniel Alfredsson, Henrik Zetterberg, Henrik Lundqvist, Joe Pavelski, and even Brett Hull. And how about three players that went undrafted altogether: Ed Belfour, Martin St. Louis, and Peter Stastny. Then the can't misses who totally missed: Alexandre Daigle, Pavel Brendl, (Can't believe the Flyers traded Eric Lindros for that guy and a few unforgettable other's) Rick Dipietro, Patrik Stefan, Nikita Filitov, and finally, the great Nail Yakupov. (Yeah I don't remember the guy either?) So I guess my point is with Hockey players probably more than any other sport except maybe Major League Baseball, it's really difficult to be sure on anyone. So give the guys in this incarnation of the Philadelphia Flyers front office hierarchy the benefit of the doubt and have patience and see if these kids can be successful. I bet a lot of this year's first round and second round class, as well as the remaining round picks don't pan out, which is normal. Because in the end none of you really know anything more than anybody else either.
