  1. Not sure how far out Aitchenson is. 2 maybe 3 years. Hoping they sign Ramonov. Having Ramanov and Aitchenson punishing forwards is going to be fun to watch.

  2. Something transpired between noah dobson and patrick roy during the season that caused dobson to fire his long time agency and hire Wasserman. Lou then submitted 3 contract proposals to Wasserman the 1st at 8.5mm and the last at 9mm. Again something transpired because lou decided to trade dobson to toronto. Everything was agreed to. Dobson said yes and everyone was happy so this story about only montreal is BS. At last second toronto changed their mind and decided to roll the dice with mitch marner he was coming to long Island. Darche is hired and he decides that he can do what lou could not which was resign dobson. Mistake 1. Wasserman then told darche if you want to sign dobson you need to pay a premium or move on. He decides not to pay a premium or trade dobson. Mistake 2. Wasserman gets upset and then they called any Strickland and Elliot Friedman at which point everyone in the nhl knew dobson wanted out and Darche didn't want to pay to sign dobson. Last second an idiotic gm from the east offers 1st rd pick and their top prospect. Darche says no because HE wanted to deal with montreal bc he wanted both of their 1st rd picks bc he wanted to draft baby hagens. Mistake 3 bc no one in the nhl valued those picks bc it was the weakest draft in years.

  3. Heineman is 23 and on his fourth team. I don’t expect anything from him. And Elklund IMO has a high chance of being a mediocre bust.

  4. Nothing lasts forever, if Dobson was anywhere near his 70 point season this past year, you resign him. But he wasn’t, this year was his lowest point production since 2020-21 AND he is was a defensive liability. Could Darche have gotten more? That’s debatable, other GMs read the stats. The assets gained from the picks seem to be promising, it will take time to know if the Isles or Habs won this deal. It will be even better if Heineman gets healthy and back to producing like he once did.

  5. Not complete rebuild, retool, sign ekblad this offseason to replace Dobson, will get Isaac Howard and will sign mcdavid next offseason, Schaffer will be full be a regular next season as well. This season might be a step back but next season we will be top of the league.

  6. Under extremely difficult circumstances, Darche did as well as he could possibly do in this trade. Personally, if I had a chance to undo the trade right now, I would not.

  7. I have come to love your M&M Isles show. You guys play off each other like Laurel and Hardy. Guess which is which. Here's a hint: Laurier and Hardy. lol

IMO, the Dobson move was Darche betting on Emil Heineman. Rumor says Montreal offered another player, but Darche held out for Heineman. If you look at his stats before he got hit by a car (1/14) and broke his wrist, he became a plus forward and was producing at a 1/3 PPG. Not great for a 22 year old rookie, but I think Darche saw that this 6'2", 200lb forward had potential well beyond his rookie season.
As far as the Isles 16th and 17th picks, they are 2 to 3 years away from making a serious run at breaking into the roster. JMO.
On Dobson, I have a feeling he wanted to be paired with a top D-man like Pelech who could cover for him when he jumped into the play. Romanov isn't that guy. I still believe this is why Tavares screwed the Isles. After years of playing with 2nd line forwards, Barzal shows up and he wasn't paired with Tavares.

  8. Wait to next year to spend the money on FA . We will have more money plus as of now the 2026 FA is better . Also next years draft is deeper and better. May try and get Isaac Howard this year . Just my opinion

  9. This season is a run it back year (minus nelson and dobson because they both wanted out). The fact is simply Lou's contracts tied Darche's hands for this year. I think next off season we will see what Darche's vision for the team is as he will have more control over the roster as some of these contracts time out.

  10. It’s a weird feel because the islanders did seem to do very well on draft day, a potentially great draft. But technically, they’re a worse team after the draft, and in general, this is not what teams are dealing with, or feeling.

And these kids could all end up being great players, and then what, as soon as they’re good they strong arm the islanders to go do a team dumb enough to over pay. Like, the point of a draft is to get a Noah Dobson. And a retool should have been built around Noah Dobson, a guy who is just leaving the ‘prospect’ moniker, and all those other guys mentioned are obviously not in that pool.

Not saying we should have done any of that. Just stinks as the cards fall, you lose a Noah Dobson, and you draft someone who is potentially as good in a few years

  11. $9.5 is too much for Dobson, especially coming off a 39 point season. If he was coming off 2 or 3 consecutive 70 point seasons, then you could justify the contract he was given. He averaged 50 points a season for the past 4 seasons, which is very good, but not $9.5 million good. Especially when you consider his defensive lapses. Darche made a good trade and I believe he made good picks, but only time will tell. This makes a Tony D. re-signing even more important.

  12. Poor Columbus. Isles should send over a pity prospect to the jackets so they feel better about being snubbed.

  13. I liked this move-Had to bring in prospects and the quality people we got in the draft is spectacular, we will find out more ina few years but we needed to replenish the young talent and we did just that-Mathieh Darsh did a great job! Lets go Islanders!

  14. The issue i had with the trade was the middle picks. Didn't think we'd get good prospects from this weak draft. I was wrong.

  15. We would have no team at all if you traded Barzal, Horvat and Sorokin. We have no team as of right this minute. We are bye far the worst team in the NHL. We should get the lottery pick for next season.

  16. We missed on the kid from Buffalo. That’s a player that would have made us a lot better.

  17. Dobson sucked. I watched every game he’s ever played. His body hasn’t matured in 5 years. He’s soft and he can’t advance us on the power play. Cya

  18. Everyone views this deal from the lens of a 70 point season. That was a career high. He's a 40-50 point guy most years. He is also a weak defender. Very overrated and not worth 9.5 let alone 11m. Isles got 3 serious prospects and cap space. This trade was a WIN!
