Edmonton doesn't get discounts because it's a group of individuals. Florida is a group of guys who love playing together. That's culture vs individuals.
Strange to say this, but other than Nurse's mistake of a contract, Edmonton's biggest cap challenge is that their 3 best players are too damn good.
If any one of their top three players were slightly less elite, they wouldn't have to pay them top-of-the-league salaries and would have more money to build depth (and goaltending).
It's like Toronto's core 4, where management couldn't bear to part with any of their production but couldn't build a contending team with that salary structure.
Having two defensemen making more than Makar just isnt a good recipe. Bouchard is brutally overrated by the Oilers fan base and hes definitely overpaid here. Surprised they couldnt get the full 8 year deal though, 4 is much shorter than it shouldve been at that kind of a cap hit (he isnt giving a discount here).
I would give hime 10.5 mil for 4 seasons… Period!! Not per year!!! 2.625 sounds about right for a bottom 6 winger masquerading as a damn;

Based on some of these comments I can see most people have only watched Bouchards blooper reel and have never watched him actually play. He’s an amazing defensemen , both offensively and defensively.
