    Happy with the pick, he's the kind of player that we as Canucks fans always love to see them draft; hardworking Canadian that sounds like a high character guy. I'm definitely more in favour of the team being careful with how they spend on July 1 with Hughes' next contract being something they need to have room for, especially considering their just aren't that many really interesting free agents this year compared to what might be available next year.

    Happy with them picking Cootes. Just disappointed we weren’t able to get a 2C for it as now it’s gonna be even more difficult getting one.

    I'm just happy Canucks didn't trade their pick. I wish they would keep all their first round picks. Injecting youth into the franchise always alot more exciting for fans. If i was a GM id try to always keep as many picks as possible.

    Remember when Barzal was picked 16th overall from the Thunderbirds and within two years had 85 points in the NHL as centre. lol. let's hope.

    Honestly, I'm just glad we didn't pick yet another skinny and underweight Euro/Swede player in eklund. We already have way too much of them. We need a man-sized Canadian (or US) player who knows how to play a man's game and both take and dole out hard hits and not cower away from the physical aspect of the game like lekkermaki. I watched the draft and was hoping to god we didn't take another anorexic Swede. Actually I was hoping we'd take Carter Bear but COOTER is more than fine. He's a man. Not a girl.
