  1. Really like the deal. Fantastic job. If he could increase his first step speed just a little bit more, I think there is more to unlock.

  2. There is a logjam of forwards. I really don't think it's good for his development for Ritchie to go to Bridgeport, which I've heard has been empty for the past 2 seasons (at least). Playing 65 games there would be brutal and who knows how that could affect him. I trust that the front office is talking to him and because Darche didn't send him to Boston for the Hagens possibility, then they obviously value him.

  3. I'm loving Holmstroms progression. He's so defensively responsible, I wouldn't be surprised to see him develop into a perennial Selke candidate. He also has a very deceptive wrist shot.
Darche has put the Isles forward core in a great compete to play situation. In the end, both the NHL and AHL clubs will be better this year.

Mayfield has played both sides adequately. My biggest concern is the backup goalie. I wouldn't be shocked if Varlys career ends mid-season.

  4. Holmstrom needs to be on the 2nd line , with health He is a 60 point Player , His shot % is elite , He is good on specialty Teams , He needs to be a tad bit more physical and shoot more . Great signing on a Player with skills and helium

  5. I am excited about the AHL team possibly moving to Hamilton, Ontario. I am only an hour plus drive away and know where I will be going to catch some hockey games. So stoked!!!

  6. The logjam up front is a great thing, too long we've had fringe AHL players in the lineup, healthy competition amongst them at camp will be a big motivator for guys to not be lax and to step their game up. Still think we're going to ship out a forward, but honestly I don't think it's JGP, could it be Casey? Pierre? We'll see I guess.

  7. I think the Isles will regret not locking up Holmstrom long term, I realize their cap constraints forced their hand a little bit. Holmstrom has a great shot, and is a smart hockey player. I only see him better and better, so the problem is, in two years' time, I am guessing the Isles are gonna have to pony up big time to keep him. From Holmstrom's point of view, he is betting on himself, and I think he's making a good bet. I see him as a 25 goals a year guy who plays a 200 foot game.
