1. I mean, listening to Toronto fans suddenly concerned about cap "shenanigans" is just too rich. Only thing even worse would be if it was Tampa Fans.

  2. I seriously cannot stand your cohost Steve. Matthews played how many damn games with a wrist injury before taking the surgery. Jessie needs to get over himself and his leafs bias.

  3. Avs fan here, landy isnt even on LTIR. the way that we're going to free up cap space is by moving Compher in a trade deal.

  4. Based on the lightning showing how to manipulate the salary cap the last two cups, why would you not expect others teams to follow suite? You learn and adapt to the current market expectation or you lose, correct?

  5. girard is scheduled to be out a week before playoffs start too. sit him an extra week throw him on ltir and we got landy 7m plus girard 5 mill

  6. Here we go.. Tampa Bay Part 2.. I say leafs keep Muzzin out because "LTIR" and go get another D.

  7. The cap is brutal. League needs to compensate teams that live in heavily taxed provinces/states. MLB has it right with team salary.

  8. 2yrs ago we had 5 regulars out,& Michael fing Hutchinson in net…that team overachieved getting to OT of game 7 vs Dallas. Last year, certainly was a big disappointment/underachievement.

But Sturm is analytically better than Jost in almost every category…though not by much on most things. Overall,I'd say they are similar CALIBER players. But Sturm is better than Jost,at the things that are our weaknesses…he's WAY better at faceoffs…our biggest weakness,he's slightly better on PK-whjch we could be better at,&…HES WAY BIGGER/MORE PHYSICAL-arguably our most important weakness. Jost has a higher ceiling, but would never reach it here…too many fans can't forgive him,for never being close to worth the 10th pick in the draft. In Minnesota they won't care about that-they didn't draft him. They'll just accept what he actually is…a decent bottom 6 guy,who at times has been very good deffensively…though it's inconsistent. I expect a change of scenery will improve his production.

Just don't expect too much. He has a higher ceiling than Sturm, but it's definitely capped. He does not have All star ability, but has some skill, works hard,& is supposedly a great team mate. But I've heard some Wild fans thinking he can be their #2 center…no way…not at a decent level. Just go watch that Vegas series, where he got caved in by their 2nd line. Wasn't really Jost fault…it was actually Kadris fault for getting suspended. That's what happens when you ask decent bottom 6 guys,to do too much-especially in the playoffs. When you are forced to count on them for a role, where they are just in over their head. But he can be a decent 3rd line center,& very good 4th line.(though he wasn't very good in Colorado this year, mostly on 4th line). But this could be win/win for both teams,& I will pull for Jost individually….while also hoping his team loses every game.

But I love doctor Steve diagnosing,& predicting Landeskog,& Girard's recovery. Can we get a Bo Byrum diagnosis,Steve? He's practicing fully-granted non contact,& attending games to see how the noise, lights, etc affects him,but clearly Steve must know exactly when he will be back,& how he will perform,if it's this season.

  9. Landeskog was on pace for a career year. A 40 goal season for god's sake! Why would he want to give up that opportunity, other than to be ready to go the distance in the postseason? Sure, it's convenient timing, but an injury is an injury. If you can get it fixed, you should. And your team deserves to have some wiggle room with the cap.

Also, Sam Girard was already playing "sub-par" for most of the season. It can't get any worse for his play to take this time off.

  10. Loop holes are there to be exploited. Personally I think all teams should do it.

I wholeheartedly approve if it turns out 2 monster teams meet each year in the playoffs, because all teams start to figure out these loop holes.

People might think it's the same teams every year, but i tend to think it would be those teams who have great regular seasons who are looking to bulk up for the playoffs.

    Bring it on!!!

  11. The owners and the league know the issue with LTIR and playoff salaries. They all choose not to fix it. This discussion needs to stop.

  12. As a lightning fan I would like to point out that the bolts may have used a loophole to become cap compliant but they never went out and added a high value player after they put Kucherov on LTIR. In fact they picked up two contracts of retired players, traded away some depth and replaced them with prospects (Colton and ABB). No new faces or shenanigans to make themselves a better team so do a little research before you start spouting nonsense. You just come off as dumb.

PS: Your tears taste so sweet

  13. Josts ceiling has fallen. He is an undersized grinder being paid 2 mil. Also seems like a ton of speculation about Gabe and his injury. As of now, the Avs haven't done anything with LTIR and Cap maneuvers. Yall seem mad over a hypothetical situation you have made up

  14. I DO T WABT KANE,,, he’s what they have a lot of scoring, the perfect fit is Giroux he’s a complete player and he’s a face off guy,,,, hello Toronto are calling out Landeskog just cause you in Toronto can’t do what the Avs are doing, cause the leafs don’t have the depth to use this advantage and it’s there for everyone,,, Toronto is just badly built and you all know it

  15. Wow. Sturm is 6 ft 3 and Yost is 5 ft 11.
This is a Power Mover. Steve can’t believe you missed the real trade reason. SIZE

  16. Can you guys do an explainer on Jeremy Jacobs? You reference him a lot but I don't really know the history there.

  17. Tampa's wasnt the same. They didnt have kucherov pick when he went into surgery. It was the first month of the season and the surgery required months of healing. Was he ready probably a month before the playoffs? Sure but no need to rush it. Doctors gave a timeline and he progressed quicker than expected.

  18. Love how once the leafs run into cap problems and then there fans want np salary cap 😂😂😂😂😂

  19. if its legal, its ok. the financial side is as important as the games. you have to use every possibilty on and off the ice.

  20. I really like you guys so I say this with love. If you pronounce Tyson Jost's name with a Y as in Yost you immediately lose credibility on the topic. I know he isn't a household name but how can we value your points about the trade if you don't know his name? I hope you see my reasoning at least? I'm not even that mad about it, it's just that Tyson Jost is a great guy and deserves a bit more research. Come on boys!

  21. I've watched every Avs game this year, and I guarantee you the Girard back injury was because of the Stamkos boarding near the beginning of the year that just about broke Girard's back. It was awful to watch. The league though was like "nah that was fine", no suspension, no fine…nothing. Player safety is such a joke.

  22. All this rhetoric just gives more power to what Lupul was saying few years ago on twitter, and got reprimanded. Teams will lie about you being on LTIR to control their situation, and they hold you hostage for it if you're not on board.
