The Leafs are a bitter team, they will do anything to punish Marner and the Golden Knights, even if it is on some flimsy excuse as alleged tampering. All teams tamper, including the Leafs this time of the year. It’s just that Toronto are a bunch of whiners and want to get something for nothing. They had a shot of getting rid of the cancer known as Mitch Marner last season before his no trade clause kicked in, but they stood pat, hoping that he would extend himself. Now that he has made it clear that he wants out, and won’t at least give the Leafs something for leaving, they are going to have their media allies start this rumour mill about Vegas tampering with Marner. All bullshit if you ask me.

Definitely feels like the bitter nonsense from Marner's agent/camp has pushed Treliving to kick the tampering door alarm! Tampering is business as usual in the league and everybody knows it, so this being the first time that I can recall anyone threatening to have the league launch an investigation unless team being accused plays ball like this in my 57 plus years watching the Leafs/NHL makes me think this is caused by the snivelling from Marner's agent.

Vegas shouldn't be allowed to tamper and jump in front of all the other teams.
Sign and Trade does not have to be for 8 Years it can be done for any amount. Vegas does not have enough cap space. Why don't the Leafs just make a separate trade with Vegas. After Marner signs with Vegas, Leafs then trade a draft pick to Vegas, for Roy and Hague.
I don’t know all the rules re trades, however, Toronto should have tradedMarner last season, at least they would have received something for him. Now Marner has stuck it to Toronto by refusibg to save his no trade, he is only interested in making the most money , personal stats, to fill his ego!! Let him go and good riddance

It's not the first time that VGK have been suspected of circumventing the rules and unfair treatment, and… nothing happened. One thing is for sure, they don't play fair, but who cares?!? They regularly circumvent the rules, it seems that they are allowed.

If Vegas announce on July 1st that Marner is now a Golden Knight, I think Leafs would have a legitimate case to file tampering charges, especially in light of rumours that Marner is househunting in Vegas.
The marlies could probably afford marker and he could probably do well playing the way he does. The season is shorter so he will be able to win and golf

What I find hilariously ironic is that Marner will play for a team that will eventually stab him in the back if he doesn’t produce in the playoffs. He will be shipped off to a team that he won’t want to go to. Vegas plays hardball and don’t care about burning bridges.
I'm a Leafs fan and even I think they're being stupid here. The Golden Knights aren't required to make a trade and Marner's not required to do a sign & trade. Vegas just knows that Toronto is over a barrel so they have no motivation to give up Theodore. That's not tampering.
That said, I wouldn't be happy if all we got for Marner is Roy & Hague. I'm not sure I'll ever forgive this team for not doing whatever it needed to do to convince Marner to stay. We can't replace his regular season scoring, and we can't afford to lose that scoring.
