Getting harder and harder to follow these guys hockey talk. JVR is 36 but he’s on a one year deal which is fine. The other contracts are cheap low risk, high reward signings. Yzerman has made way more good moves than bad, go ahead and try to list the bad moves, I bet my list of his good moves is way longer… Cal Pickard, Sam Gagner, Robby Fabbri (who he traded De La Rose for…), Olli Maatta, Kubalik, Perron, Pius Suter, even Jake Wallman (who he traded Nick Leddy and Luke Witowski for and also got Sunny and a 2nd with Wallman…), Lyon, Sprong, Fischer, Kane… I can keep going…
Being extreme on a position gets clicks, that's probably why these guys are ACTING like this. Overpaying for free agents doesn't work well in the NHL, see Nashville last offseason for reference.

By the time the free agency market open it was a barren market. So it came to what was expected really; nothing to brag about or that really met or addressed our needs.
Just JVR the replacement at the loss of Tarasenko at an even lower cap hit. So pretty good deal there that I'm good with.
So what's left is hopefully we find something out there via trade or amongst the RFA market. Like a Luke Hughes, Byram, Rossi or McTavish.
We certainly have the cap space and the only way I see us addressing our needs in the present.
However, Stevie could be just setting up for something of a bigger splash having more cap space in 2026 given that Free agency outlook being much better and bigger.
