They’re probably saving the money for next year’s free agency
Appleton sounds like a Kris Draper comp. He also missed open nets and breakaway chances. If thats the case then it's a nice addition to the 4th line.

I will agree that they need another top 4 D and top 6 forward. Hope Gibson steals 5-6 games, then in the playoffs. Wings are a good team. In fact, Detroit beat Florida 2 out of 3 last season. In the lost Detroit had 6-7 great chances , where Florida had 2-3. Florida got lucky, but they created some chances by just shooting the puck.
Really, all they need is current players to step up. There is no Pavel, Zetterburg, Lindstrom coming this year.
Better then the Panthers in a parity league in a non destination city. Arm chair quarterbacks can suggest their delusional signings or trades but no moves are happening unless Detroit gives up their best and bright stars and, or draft picks.
