  1. What people are failing to highly underestimate about Mailoux coming to the Blues is Jim Montgomery's system.
Its a great defensive system and Mailoux will be playing on the Blues third line d pair (more than likely ) behind a lot of veteran defensemen.
He will have a lot of knowledge thrown his way and there is less pressure on him than the situation in Montreal.

  2. Blues fan here wasn't the biggest fan of this trade at first. But after reflecting on it i would not be surprised if he has a break out year with us. The way our defense is always getting in on the rush in the ozone with our forwards taking some of the defense liability out of it. That might be the difference maker for him plus with our veteran defense and great coaching staff to help teach him along the way. I am staying positive after losing a player i really liked

  3. idk about all that but Bolduc is going to get paid more soon and we have an assload of young forwards. It hurts but shifting some of the young talent toward the defensive side is probably pretty smart even if it is a risk on Mailloux

  4. As a Blues fan the Blues would not have been able to pay Bolduc, Holloway and Broberg 6-7+ Million next year, Mailloux will be much cheaper. Also the blues have many fowards coming up and we needed to get younger on defence.

  5. Mailloux can be a big surprise. In 2 or 3 years he will still be dangerous offensively, and will have ironed out his defensive play. I wish him the best.

  6. They were clearly talking about if he didn’t have the off the ice issues. He could have been a top 10 pick at the time due to skill. They aren’t talking about a redraft

  7. I think this video is way off base, for a couple of reasons.

First, the criticism of this trade from St. Louis' side has been widespread. People see the possibilities with Mailloux, but there is a lot of risk taking him on when Bolduc proved himself so well this year.

Second, I did not interpret Armstrong's words to be that Mailloux would go top 10 in a redraft. What I heard was that Mailloux had lost a lot of stock in the draft because of his off-ice problems. Between that and withdrawing from the draft, he still ended up going in the first round. So the comment is saying that if that if he hadn't lost so much draft stock, he might have gone top 10.

For me, this trade makes sense because Bolduc (and Neighbors) are projecting as either middle or top 6 forwards that will remain trapped on the Blues third line behind Buchnevich, Snuggerud, Holloway, and Kyrou. I can't imagine Bolduc wanting to remain in STL long term just to play 3rd line minutes. Trading for Mailloux is a calculated risk with a lot of upside for the Blues due to their dearth of defensive prospects and their ridiculous depth of winger prospects.

The Blues will have Bolduc's roster spot more than filled in one, maybe two years. MTL will love him, though. He was one of my favorite Blues.

  8. His Stats were not great this year cuz he had no pp time, they worked him in the pk this year. He will score easily 10 to 20 goals a year on pp, the true question is can he improve the defense.

  9. Mailloux was well liked by fans in Laval and in Montreal. No one with a working brain thinks he will never make the NHL but saying he’s NHL ready now is a bit of a stretch. Mtl. needed some offence and sandpaper and this is what they’re getting. So as it stands now, the Habs have the upper hand in this trade as they get a player who has already proved he can perform at the NHL level in Bolduc, while St Louis gets a great developing prospect in Mailloux; « prospect » being the operative word here.

  10. I dont see top 10 but you never know. I wish Mailloux well in St. Louis, but I think this trade has win/win written all over it right now. Why does every trade NEED to have a winner and a loser. It was 2 teams trading high potential 1st rounders that are the same age. Both teams traded a young player from positions they had an abundance of

  11. Thomas kyrou bolduc neighbours, Tage Thompson, jimmy snuggerud, all of those guys were mid to late round 1st round picks by the blues that hit. Kyrou was a second rounder. Besides Dominic bokk(who the blues traded..interestingly enough) all of our 1st rounders have hit for half a decade or more. If they think Mailloux has something special I believe they know what they’re doing. We either 1. Have a great scouting staff or 2. Are great at developing players. We’ll see how it ages.

  12. Part of the problem for habs fans with Mailloux was the unethical way bergevin picked him up. He's two years behind Bolduc in his development. But St Louis needs defenders. Montreal needs forwards.

  13. You can go out and get a 20 goal scoring winger way easier than you can get a young right shot Dman, STL won this trade.

  14. I subscribed to your channel after watching 30 – 40 of your videos. I subscribed because I came to value your opinion…I'm a Blues fan, have been since they started back in '67, when it was 7 years old…..
What I've learned about sports & players is, there's no guarantee…Take Albert Pujols (baseball) for instance. Albert was drafted i believe in the 26th round, and 600+ overall…WHODATHUNKIT ? … One of the games all time greats, and he fool everyone…
I'll give Mailloux his day in court. I won't shame him if he goes to the AHL for a year or more, to develop. NHL defenders historically take longer to develop than Wingers / Forwards…If and this turns out to be the case, and he comes in after that development process, and turns into 90% of a Bowen Byram, I'll consider this a great trade…
Half the people out there making hockey videos, are a bunch of pimple faced numbnuts living in their Mommies basement. I have no idea what you look like, but your enthusiasm, your excitement and your knowledge of players and the game, is what appealed to me, about you. Your opinion is not off base, in fact, it's rational. I believe Army & Monte are selling seats, that's part of their job. It's their credibility they're laying on the line. As far as the Blues scouting department goes, I believe they have a pretty awesome team and have guided the Blues to some good to great prospects, Bolduc being one of them…
Time is not a today or tomorrow, now now now benchmark for where I'm going to evaluate Mailloux. If after 2 full seasons he doesn't make the club and shine like the star he's been promoted to be, then I'll be completely disappointed…Let's see where Bolduc is in 2 years as well…Bolduc had a pretty damn good supporting cast around him here. Bolduc earned his wings, but it took 1/2 the season before his feathers grew healthy enough to fly…
Thanks for the channel, I absolutely enjoy it.

  15. Like Mailloux has the shot the physical attributes and other great things, but his hockey IQ is subpar at best and will make some face palm mistakes with the fact it’s probably the hardest part for a player to work on.

Upside are there, there is also no way I see him having a spot on our roster.

  16. Coaches if yu notice bring along players better than others…Habs live in the past and have this I'm special without proving much…ok!!

  17. A number of those players you listed as Top 10 guys in a re-draft haven't teally made too much of a mark on the NHL as yet , Zellweger , Coronado and even Owen Power haven't really lit up the league as yet and considering how good tje Blues have been recently evaluating talent (check put their success with their 1st round draft choices mostly drafting lower than 15) I say if they think this kid Mailloux is NHL ready , he probably is. Not running down MTL's talent evaluators at all , I just think you all are trying to make yourselves believe you won this trade handily which I don't think the trade can be evaluated for 2-3 yrs yet. Believe me when it say , as a Blues fan , we love Bolduc , but he , like Mailloux , has his issues. I think this will end up neing a good trade for both teams , but as far as which one got the better deal , only time will tell , so dial it bavk a bit , yeah?
