I wouldn't mind a very good high end defenseman in the 2026 draft. Makar was a 4th pick in 2017.
Orlov is a great signing. The term is important. He'll take alot of burden off of Dickinson for 2 years as he develops.
Unfortunately, Sharks still needs a top pairing on defense. Claiming Leddy, signing Klingenberg, and Orlov will help the defense, but I still feel we need a top pairing. Sharks really need one or two top 6 forwards, need two forwards for the middle 6.,sharks still need 4-6 impact players. I guess there are playing to get McKenna. If they get the number one pick next year, the rebuilding has to come to an end.
Obviously the still need a top pairing but adding a couple of adequate blue liners was a step in the right direction. Hope Leddy has something left and can stay healthy. Orlov should give us some reliable minutes every night

I was impressed how Chernyshov defended in the 3-on-3 format by skating backward, keeping tight gaps and forcing puck carriers to the outside. He looked like a defenseman and has a polished game.
Happy to have Orlov. My free agent wish list was Granlund, Burns, Allen, and Orlov. Given that the Sharks were the worst team in the NHL last year, landing just one if those guys is pretty good. The defense is getting better. Still lacking in RHD, but Leddy, Shak, and Orlov all have experience playing on the right side.
People are complaining of bringing and overpaying veteran players, but that's also what we need, we were very young team. They bring more stability and those guys elevate your floor of the blueline, which i consider a improvement. While we also have guys like Dickinson and Cagnoni that gonna raise the cieling of it too.
thought Nate Misskey had a respectable game. Sharks could use a bigger RHD come thru. Matt Davis in net was quite good.

Thrunado & Muck, enjoy the AHL this year. They are the “next” line of defenders, but in 2-3 years… not now. Defending is hard and 25-26 is the sweet spot like Middleton. Makar & Huggy or Lane Hudson are the exceptions.
As you stated, Orlov would be the best D-man on the roster, so with him, Leddy, and Klingberg, the Sharks have improved from having the worst D in the league to hopefully a mediocre D. Overpayment isn't a bug, it's a feature, it got Grier to the floor with only Orlov signed next year and tradable at that. Mario has been on the block, otherwise there is that huge logjam on the D roster. Grier has a plan, he always does…
Sharks still need a second line winger some UFAS and RFAS I could see as options for low return and are realistic with their current teams cap or situation with said player

tbh this is what I was waiting for, always liked Orlov and now having him on black&teal… thank godness.
I like the D aquisitions Grier has made, epecially Orlov and Klingberg. Klingberg is a bit of a risk, but one worth taking given the potential upside….esp with him being a R shot defenseman. Obviously, these additions create a bit of a traffic jam on the present roster…but this is a problem the shaarks need to have. To me, Orlov-Kling berg is the top[ pair;; Mario and Liljegren the bottom pair. Of the kids, Mukhamedulling has to play, and pairing with Leddy makes sense if Leddy is really healthy enough to be viable for the whole season (if not, Muk can play with Mario). Dickinson can't play in AHL this year, and sending him back to the OHL seems dumb – he has nothing more to learn there. If he has a great debut in training camp, maybe that pushes either Mario or Leddy to be traded. Any way you look at it, Thrun's days as a Shark are numbered. Too bad for him, but he hasn't shown enough improvement to be kept on.
