Do you think Verbeek landed the target he wanted with Mikael Granlund?
No home runs in free agency, but GM v. Needs to hit a grand slam on last 1st Rd pick and last week's pick.
The Ducks have a lot of high end young talent in the NHL now or coming soon… How on earth are they going to get top line playing time with so many fogies on the team now? This makes the Zegras trade look very bad. If Zegras is at 40 plus points by the trade deadline (an he could be) he will get a first round pick and a prospect in a very strong upcoming draft class if traded… no problem. Verbeek could have and should have waited with him. Outside of drafting McQueen I am not a fan of most of what Verbeek has done the past year. IF the Ducks don't make the playoffs this coming year I don't expect to see him around for long.
Granlund had a great season, especially in San Jose and he ate up the Pacific Division specifically.
Until Anaheim starts winning they’ll be paying premiums for UFA talent.
$7M is an annual overpay, especially with Carlsson, MacT, Zellweger, Lacombe, Cutter, and even Trouba & Gudas needing deals before the Granlund deal expires.

This off season been trash so far , draft was fine but everything else eh
The biggest offseason move this year was the coaching staff. Unfortunately I think the players that would've benefited the most from the new staff got moved out. I think the big plan was to over pay Marner to land him but that blew up with the trade. Granlund was the pivot. The team needs to perform well this season and that will open up the opportunities to land a big fish next offseason.

Granlund is no superstar but he's an awesome player who was PPG for the Sharks last season.

Really? Come on, man. John Gibson and Trevor Zegras were both incredibly injury-prone. Both have missed significant time over the last 2 seasons. Fans who are crying about them need to realize we have already been playing without them, anyway. If both had displayed an ability to actually stay healthy, there is 0% chance they would have been traded. It's time to move on.
I think Verbeek is letting us down big time with loosing Zegras and us having scoring issues it just sucks, I just don’t know what he’s doing I hope I am wrong but just not a fan of his work.

Not just Granlund but the rest of the team from Leo to vatrano to Terry to (we can only hope) Strome are gonna have to score goals because they’re goaltending will regress
After Marner…there really wasn't alot available…it was a good move and will help power play and leadership…plenty of quality already on the team…one more solid defenseman needed ..maybe 😊
I think Granlund will be a perfect big bro for this young team. He is a two time world champion and an olympic bronze medalist. He wasn't a superstar for his previous teams but he is a solid guy who can play center or wing. He will boost your PP for sure

Seems like Verbeek is making mistake after mistake this offseason. I recently got into hockey and yet haven't chosen the team to support, Ducks seem very likable to me but when I see what this guy is doing I am just rolling my eyes in disbelief 🙄
