The team is on paper a lottery team when you look at the forwards and combinations that may be available. The patchwork will be the solution as in the previous 6 years, which means that several players are tested among the top 6. Question no. 2 is how many games John plays and how often he can steal wins without breaking down himself. RW has a long history of using up goalies at a furious pace.
I have no difficulty seeing JVR with Larks and Raz. He is a stable scorer with 20-30 goals per season. Depending on how hot he or Cat is, you flip them over during 82 games. Also Cat had some long stints with no points last season when he was with Larks & Raz.
RW has an abundance of players who can play Center. That not everyone is equally good is another matter. The rotation will thus be Kasper job together with JT/Copp. The worst that can happen is if we again see Soderblom in the 1st line role, just because of some injuries.
Here are the opportunities for Mazur, Burger, Kasper, Soderblom and so on moving up and down the lineup during the season. As they all need challenges to develop better. Burger is a very good example of a forward who does not develop because he is held back under previous head coaches and GMs. If you don't give him opportunities this year, you won't increase his trade value. If you can't find a place for a Burger in the lineup, then why re-sign him like a warm body?
The big vulnerability is if a team is to roll with so many forwards as it is difficult to create chemistry and stability. I think RW will roll with three goalies instead of 14 forwards as Stevie said they are thinking about this, 14 or 3? The camp will be very decisive if any talent breaks in, which would be the best.. For Mazur, Burger, Soderblom, are the ones who are going to be outcompeted first and Appleton, is the role player who is not outcompeted this year by any talent from the RW pipeline as far as i know. IF no one beats any of these three this year, it shows that RW has no depth in their ranks.
– Appleton could very well be the dark horse of the year for RW. I will follow RW live until Christmas and then wait for the lottery…

Appleton should be used as a 4th line, Copp should NEVER be on the top line. Trades need to be made; either Bergy, rasmussen, copp or compher to bring in some proper players both positional and suitability-wise
The second line with Copp centering was an effective line. Move Kasper back up. I'm betting that Danielson comes up and will play on the 3rd line to get acclimated than hopefully makes a move much like Kasper did.
I see this roster is as only a slight improvement over last year's roster, however I think they fall below 90 points for the season and miss the playoffs. Even if they do make the playoffs as a wild card, they will likely be eliminated in the first round. Either way, Yzerman should be fired.

Mazur was a first and second line player with the international teams. With G.R. …..he is talented like Bertuzzi only with more pace and faster. I think you all are under estimating him . Time will tell. He is a battler and a lover of the game ! Turning him into Darren Helm 2.0 would be a huge waste.

Note- we had 2, seven game winning streaks with Copp as the 2nd line center. Copp was a very nice player with this coavh. Much like Kane. Open your eyes,. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. This is what he was supposed to be when we got him and Todd Mc. seems to be able to get it out of him ! The past bad coaches..,
along with bad play, does not necessarily equal the future play. A case in point : Larionov Was once traded to Florida by the Wngs. He sucked there. Then they traded him back to the R 0:58 ed wings 4-5 months later. He immediately began to play exactly the same way he always had for us , under Scotty Bowman. When Larry Murphy got traded to the detroit red wings people were pissed ! They hated him like Hall. He played
for us awesomely;
and was voted into the hall of fame. Coaching styles + systems, make players great or lousy ! We would have made the playoffs last year if Todd would have coached from day ONE , even with ALLLLL of our short comings. Do the math. OUR roster is no where near as bad as all the doom and gloom would indicate. Just need a viable guy on defence. Maybe ASP can force his way in early 🙏🫰!
Talbot is a very good goalie.If he's not shelled game in game out. So is Gibson . When they have an average week, they need to trust the other guy can come and do it THEN. That way they can get a mental rest …reboot…and step it up again. I think this tandum is strong . 45-35 split. Steve might wait 4 weeks into the season and make a trade or try a rookie. We will see. He MUST address this problem quick or we will sacrifice another season. I think he'll do something. People are thinking a very offensive Swede from the Penguins on defence, with salary retained.
My dark horse is MBN making this team, sooner than later. I don't think he's going to spend much time in GR.
I think Mazur will be a bottom 6 winger for majority of the season.

Could William Wallinder push for the 3rd pairing? Sandin Pelikka could push for the roster by mid season too, he’d slot in the top 4 which would really help the 3rd pairing.
We are very slightly improved from last year. Hopefully, the dark horse candidate Nathan Danielson had a great off-season and is ready to crack the lineup. Ideally Yzerman can pull off a trade to help the defense, but that's probably unlikely.
