Absolute no on leddy
Still waiting on Grier announcing Jack Roslovic and making a trade for Nemec or Byram
We are good off that
The Leddy thing could happen, but the Sharks shouldn’t burn the #1 waiver priority lightly. They had already burned it on Goodrow when Fabbro hit waivers last year. Columbus got Fabbro with their top-5 waiver position and now resigned him for 4 more years.
I still think it’s better to take the Price contract to get to the floor and make acquisitions in-season when underperforming teams decide to tank and cut bait.
I like the Klingberg acquisition and hope he stays healthy and can munch minutes. Shrewd Mike Grier kind of deal.
2025-2026
1. EKLUND – CELEBRINI – TOFFOLI
2. ROSLOVIC* – MISA – SMITH
3. KURASHEV- WENNBURG – GRAF
4. OSTAPCHUCK – BYSTED – GAUDETTE
EXTRAS: DELLANDREA, GRUNDSTROM, GOODROW
1. FERRARO – NEMEC+
2. DICKINSON – LILJGREN
3. MUKHAMADULIN – KLINGBERG
EXTRA: CAGNONI, THRUN, THOMPSON
ASKAROV
NEDELJKOVIC
Hell to the yeah on Leddy
What happened to making the roster better
Dont need LD right?
I want Seamus Casey. Think Grier could make it happen?
So, defensive group now is: Thrun, Mukh, Ferraro on the left side with Lijegren, Desharnais, Klingberg on the right side. So … room for 1 more, maybe 2 among Thompson, Dickinson, Leddy, Luca. I'm good with Leddy, as you pointed out, he's the right veteran fit. But it means the other 3 names are with the 'Cuda, at least until injuries strike.
We have enough money to not need to fish through the scrap heap to get Leddy
Leddy not young but he has always been among the best skating Dmen.
Hes a mobile Dman who can move the puck out of the zone.
Hope Grier does this.
Wasn't Leddy injured for 3 plus months in St. Louis he only played 31 games 2G 3A +6 with a $4M Caphit. Now Marc-Edouard Vlasic was just bought out. Vlasic played 27G, and had about the same stats.
Wasn't Walman Liljegren, Ferarro. Mukhamadullin, Thrun & Ceci & Vlasic better than Ferarro, Liljegren, Desharnais, Klingberg, Mukhamadullin, Cagnoni, Thompson & Possibly Leddy?
I thought Grier wanted to improve this roster? The additions don't look to impressive at all. There is no Tyler Toffoli signing this year. Who's new? Adam Gaudette? Philipp Kurashev. Seems like Grier had lofty goals but even the fallback idea of resigning Granny failed. J.D. where do you see this team going this season? Same (which was worst team in hockey) slightly better but out of the playoff picture, contending for the #8 spot?
I agree with the comment, "Where is Nemec and/or Byram?" Make a trade. Klingberg should be good. Then give some younger D some longer looks. Might have to trade a good forward prospect for a top defense prospect. Otherwise, its a number 3 or 4 pick year. The older in their prime FA's don't want to come to the Sharks yet. A couple of good defensemen can make the Sharks take off faster. The Sharks are a good destination for young players and older players needing to prove something.
Klingberg, Ferraro, Liljegren, Desharnais, Mukhamadullin, Dickinson and Thrun make the NHL roster, Cagnoni, Thompson start in the AHL. I think there’s room for Leddy on the roster
Yes. I dont EXPECT GMG to turn this into a 3rd rounder at the trade deadline, but I know it a possibility.
Another good episode, thanks JD. I am not big on Leddy as I hope GMMG with a lot of time between now and the end of September can get a better addition to the blue line that is younger and can be more of a bridge player.
I am also worried about his injury as it sounds as it could linger next season. I wish people would stop continually talk about getting players to move at the TDL.
How may times does GMMG have to say that is NOT his plan when acquiring players. And free agency is not the only way to get players and should not be the way to build a team. He can make trades and has months to do so right?
And just a note. Not a single defenseman added to the Sharks last offseason an last season came from free agency. They were ALL acquired in trade. Just a note.
As to the interviews. I thought they were very enlightening and raised my expectations of most of them.
Kurashev sounds like a good 200 foot winger that was injured a bit and played down the lineup after he showed he could produce. He has a much better attitude than Kovalenko and I agree he most likely gets some shifts with Smith. My bet is he bounce back and is resigned in the offseason. Love this pickup.
Gaudette is going to be a good addition to the bottom six and help out the PK a ton. He also scored more goals last season than the Sharks entire fourth line combined. He sounded like he is looking to stick for a longer term and is happy to have a two year contract and some stability.
Klingberg is a heck of a acquisition after watching his interview. I think you did him a disservice not mentioning his injury plagued career and the affect it had on his game.
Having double hip surgery at 19 and 21 is horrendous for anyone, let alone an offensive defenseman. And to know it continued getting worse as his playing career progressed lines up with his lack of production and how he could not stick with teams.
But, with how he has described what he did to get it fixed, adjusted his game as he matured as a player and overcame everything is inspiring. It is also exciting how he described his recovery and being able (for the first time in his NHL career) have a normal offseason instead of spending his entire offseason rehabbing.
IMO, he is a big add and player a much better defensive game than when he was playing with Dallas. As he said, he won't be what he was when he was up for the Norris in offense but he is better in every other way.
He sounds like he is adjusting to his new metal hips and for the first time does not have pain after he shuts it down. I am a big fan of his after that interview.
The cherry on the top is how he spoke of wanting to be with the Sharks long term and GMMG saying the same thing when talking about him in his presser. With the contract he has, it is a win for both. If he cannot get better then he walks but if he gets back to form he wants to stay around for the long haul.
As to "Neddy" the goalie, I liked it as he is a puck handling goalie like Asky likes to be. He actually knows how to do it responsibly and him helping Asky to understand how to improve that part of his game will be so worth the acquisition.
Orlov still good dman
Sharks just signed Dimitri Orlov to a 2 year deal at $6.5 per year.
Sharks did bite
who is a near cap team that has defense for days…that's where we will be going to fix this
Hey, it looks like we are loading up on LHD…….🫥
I mean, the defense will be better but our right side is pretty thin. At least Klingberg is RHD.
