Malcolm Spence was really the only notable draft here, I’m sure there all great players but knowing the rangers it takes years to develop just one of these guys.
Watched one draft analyst yesterday who gave the Rangers draft an A grade just for drafting Malcom Spence. Spence going to Michigan is really going to develop his game which is already good. A dog along the boards is always good because in today's hockey controlling the boards is essential to success. Barnhill, Lindgren & Passmore are old school type D, who can be physical & pin guys to the boards stalling plays in the O-zone. Then there is Dorrington "The Bully" who loves to intimidate in the net front & Fortescue to consider as futures too. A lot of analysts seem to like Mikkel Erickson as a prospect as well.
Clearly 2018 rebuild efforts only got the Rangers so far, and have pretty much been reset (failed). Too many blown HIGH 1st round draft picks.
The Rangers need to build a solid, committed prospect development program, and develop a core from the prospect pool. No more bad FA signings. Develop cap space and bring in FA's capable of playing out their term. ie…no more Zibanijed type contracts….TERRIBLE.
Why is anyone excited about who they draft? I don’t care if it’s Gretzky. They’ll ruin him and trade him in 3 years for nothing. Cause they can’t develop anyone. They are arrogant stubborn and refuse to take any accountability and or adjustments to make things better
