What if the magic marker writing is on the wall and not wanting to sign for long terms with LA is what the Players are wanting too, not just the org. We've never won cups lately without Kopi and Drew and T-Lew. As a stupid fan, I would never worry or question what if we're gonna be bad, but at some point the statement become true players aren't signing here because they're thinking maybe we're going to be bad? (flipped for picks with rebuild).
Two guys who could barely get a contract last year the kings give 4 years like exmundson smh. I’d rather have Blake and the Gavi and Spence duo. How can a gm not know his fans f perry I will never like him. Gavi wanted 7 million a raise of 1.2. Which he earned. I’d rather pay him that and Spence 1.2 than 8.5 for dummy and ceci. Holland is the same idiot who gave ceci a four year deal in Edmonton that didn’t work out. Guys that were literally traded and signed for nothing last year are now making 4 million this year. I hate holland already stop signing garbage minute guys. You could of traded for marner a guy who gets over a pint a game something g the kings haven’t had in 30 years
I’m not surprised that Drew welcomed Perry to the team. I think Drew and Perry are actually friends. If I’m not mistaken, Drew attended Perry’s wedding (or vice versa).

The issue the Kings have, they just went out a signed "throw aways" (journeymen), who are OLD and have gone past their prime and Holland spent a ton of money on them….really? what about all the good talent that is younger + cheaper? The other issue is the coach, GET rid of the coach and get a coach who WILL play 4 lines…the Kings lost because they shortened the bench.
Maybe big name Free Agents just don’t want to face McDavid and Dreiseidl in the first round every year.
Regional wildfires happen nearly Annually, and Ca/LA handling of those also not reassuring, both perhaps factors.
I don’t think money was the issue with Gavrikov. He wanted to be on the top pairing and he wasn’t going to get that in LA. The other factor I believe was family related. They wanted to be around a larger Russian community and New York has that. With all the other signings, I think that’s the best we could do. Need to face the fact that LA is not the desirable market we all think it is. Don’t know if it’s the style, management, coaching or whatever, but big names don’t come here. Sucks but we end up having to overpay for lower tier talent just to get them to sign. Otherwise, we have to do it through trades and hope the player we want doesn’t have a modified NMC. Really hoping that our defensive structure benefits Ceci and he thrives in LA.
I'm soooo worried for us this year. New GM or whoever gave away Gavrikov, IMO was a good defenseman. We got crappy Corey Perry. ( I dont know what the GM was thinking).

He left because it's his right to go wherever he wants to because he's a UFA. It's 100 percent on the LA King's for losing him for nothing, They should have traded him at the deadline like they did Rob Blake years ago! Get something for him at least, like Columbus.
Great to find your podcast. Big time hockey fan here, bummer about Gavrikov but the length of that deal may have been the factor. Good solid shutdown D is hard to find. Can’t see Cody Ceci as the answer. Problem is the other playoff bound teams like Vegas, Oilers are better and the Kings are not keeping up with them

Short and sweet, kings had that 4 year stretch when they won 2 cups. So, since 1967, that was the biggest highlight in their existence. Yes, there was the final in 1993, but that was isolated event. Kings as any organization will win a cup again by drafting and building within. When they won the two cups not only they had drafted core of quick, doughty, kopitar and brown but also used jack Johnson and Wayne simmonds to get pieces that propelled kings to be a contender. At this point I don't see kings being close and the future isn't looking much better either. Currently we might not even have a #1 center and the defense is old and questionable After trading away all the young defensman they had in their system.
The kings should hire you on their staff as a kings insider.
Very disappointed in Holland thus far…especially since Gavrikov left. IMO he was the team MVP last year and I would absolutely rather have 1 Gavrikov than both Dumoulin and Ceci. And the Corey Perry signing is a betrayal to every fan who absolutely loathes him as a player (as I do). Haven't seen a game yet…but optimism level has been significantly diminished.
He's gone. Move on.
Holland is an absolute joke! Overpaying for bums and giving way to many years. Meanwhile our division has improved a ton. We will be looking up at the Ducks at this rate
Spence will never be a 40 point guy. He can't shoot with a damn, and just lacks the offensive instinct to run a 2nd unit pp. He has 1 goal and 12 assists on the pp in 180 games.
Why trade Spence?
