As a life long hawks fan I can tell you that because of the history of what happened when coach Q was there is why Perry paid the price for basically nothing. Yes he was out of line with his actions but in no way did it constitute his contract being voided. The oil were the beneficiaries of poor Blackhawks management! The oilers fans should realize that getting Perry was a gift that they should have cherished.
I am a 74 yr old Hockey fan. Followed the Oilers till they traded Gretzky and I've been a Canucks fan ever since. I was impressed by Vasily on draft day when there was so much controversy about his draft position and all Canucks fans were tenuous untill the second round. After Hoglander was chosen, Podz went over to him and gave him a hug! and declared "We are team mates"… This is an unusual fellow and his work ethic and playing style reminds me of another great Canuck hero, Alex Burrows… It took Alex awhile to make it to the Sedins' line, but once he got there (with that hard work ethic), he proved himself to be one of the best… I am glad that Podz has a comfortable home in Edmonton and the fans love him. He still has a lot of fans here in BC and we cheered him and Stecher (another hard worker that just won't quit) on their Stanley Cup run…
I'm glad for Podz. He needed a fresh start. Sometimes that's all a player needs to improve his mindset. We always thought he was going to be a top 6 guy in Van, but it just never worked out. At the end you could tell this guy just needs to play for another team. Now he's on a team who is playing him properly and is now looking like he's going to have a decent NHL career. After his last year in Van he looked more like a guy who was going to have to play in the KHL
Tocchet has something against Russians, he made sure every Russian got traded off the team. Now the team as zero Russians compare to 4 Russians when he started.

So far I'm pleased with what Podzilla provides to the lineup. If he gets his scoring up he'll quickly become a Oilers legend.

Love this guy. It's on the coaching staff to put a player in position to succeed. (Yeah Rick, talking to you…) The Oilers let him do what he's best at, and perhaps Van didn't know what that was.
My podzy bear 😊 number 1 player these playoffs and most responsible defensively. I hope his 2 way play rubs off on others and he gets a few more goals. He needs to know its ok to shoot too 😊 but really love the guy, seems like a genuine team player. Hope hes a longtime Oiler 💙🧡💙🧡💙

he will be getting a better contract . he is fast enough to get in on the four check. a real need to work on the shot because he will be riding shot gun with Leon . shoot the puck in the off season . look at sticks . if he gets 20 the contract will come .

What an awesome and mature guy. The way he explained the rumour mill around Perry, reputational ruin and how the mob doesn’t care about the facts. It’s a sensible take you don’t hear from the average young person today who think trial by social media is normal.
As for his play, this is the kind of player you win championships with. It’s not all on the ice but also setting the pace and mentality of your teammates off of it as well.
