  1. The reason the Blues had such low point totals is because they played at a last place pace until Berube and Binnington arrived.

The real thing you should look at is what everyone's ppg was as they started to win games, because nobody wins the cup with a team that has just three 50 pt players unless there's a massive elevation in production at the right time.

  2. The Leafs aren't screwed because of whatever lineup takes the ice for the playoffs. The Leafs are probably screwed because the Florida Panthers are still in their division & who the hell is actually capable of stopping them in the postseason? Florida's going to get a full season of Luostarinen-Lundell-Marchand & we already saw the damage they could do in the playoffs after having just 10 regular season games together. Florida only lost 1 max 2 starters off their championship roster to free agency or a future trade.

  3. The Blues Stanley cup team is a good example of what consistently wins cups.

The priorities are big D who make breakouts look easy, team D and discipline. I don't care how good your offence is, if you're giving away a goal every two or three games when goals are hard to come by, you can't win against a team that doesn't.

They don't need to replace Marner's points. They need to play better team defence and get the puck out of their zone with less drama.

The Leafs D is a lot better than it was, but I still see it as the biggest need. As that Blues team shows, the Leafs don't need more offensive talent. They need even better D that play cleaner hockey.

I don't know what that means. As much as I like Riley and think he can play good D, I wouldn't mind seeing him off the roster and replaced with another really good defensive defenceman.

  4. From the look of the roster, one of the things the Leafs can do is trade one of their LWers. After Knies, who is a lock to stay, you have McMann, Domi, Maccelli ,Robertson, Lorentz. Easton Cowan is also LW. That is way too many players for too few spots. I think it is a lock they will trade one of those guys for a RW to balance out the roster.

  5. 2019 Blues, you forgot Robert Thomas. 19 at the time. But I get your point. You win with defense….not sure I like your defense. And who is going to create 75 assists…better known as feeding Matthews. That is my concern for you. Godspeed brave soldier

  6. I would play Rielly at LW on second line with Tavares and Nylander. It's time to stop pretending he's a defenseman. He has a good short shot and is great at passing from the corners to the open slot. No shot from the point and is at best average if he stops taking chances as a D. Macelli would be fine on third line. We need more grit. A-holes should be our targets. If Domi was 5 inches taller and 30 lbs heavier, he'd be what we need. Florida is definitely not worried about playing us yet. Hockey trades are needed…
