  1. Patrik Laine scored 20 goals in 52 games and gave the Canadiens power play new life. But as his final contract year approaches, the question is clear: do the Habs build around him or move on?

  2. KEEP—Extend him with a team-friendly 5-year deal, around 6.25 AAV… this guy is looking for stability and he'll be more than worth it.

  3. If Demidov is setting up Laine, watch him score 40 and he'll sign up and make the Habs proud.😂

  4. I want to see what he looks like coming back, we need to see if he’s got his skating back…. Too slow if his knee is still injured

  5. I have to wit what he is going to do before the trade deadline then if he is struggling he has to go… Great season keep him with a friendly deal… Good job Coach

  6. Last season Laine came back from injury and maybe he did not want to stress the knee while he was playing. Now that he is staying in Montreal, the staff will give him exercises to strengthen the knee and hopefully when the season starts we will see the old Laine, smooth skater and of course his shot. Let’s hope

  7. I was initially glad the Habs traded for Laine to give him an opportunity. I was excited to see him with Demidov setting him up. I now do not want them together if he stays. He is the same player now as when I watched him for many years with the Jets. Very lackadaisical and frustrating to watch. If the Habs keep him he should be on PP2 and playing with Evans as a center 5 on 5. I trust the management to do the right thing.

  8. They will trade him him at the deadline if they aren;t in the playoff mix, may keep him through the year if they are in the playoff mix. Laine is not in the long term plans

  9. I think Laine is great, finally we have a true goalscorer. I don't get all the hate that's thrown at him

Yes Mtl do the play-off and because of that they loose Desnoyers or Martin or Martone or better…..wow great move

  11. Should keep Laine unless, of course, he is in a package that brings someone to play on the top 2 line. His PP goals were among the top 5 or 6 in the league.

  12. pp specialist + any thing extra will be a plus. without laine, is hutson grab the calder ? maybe.. maybe not.
we allrdy have great exiting players in this team for the coming year, trading him could be a mistake unless we get even better and younger.
otherwise, patience and enjoy the show 🙂

  13. I was totally against the trade for Laine at first but as time went on he grew on me a bit. He made the power play much better and helped them get to the playoffs. If he can stay focused and away from evil ways I say keep him but do not renew his contract.

  14. He has to show up in shape, mentally and physically. The need for him to be able to play a 200 ft game is critical. I don't think it's fair that lack of D allows him to get PP minutes.
Let's wait and see, maybe the boys are ok with just the PP time for him.

  15. It would be a big mistake to get rid of Laine the habs always needed scoring now they got it you don't get rid of him he wants to be there
