1. The Pens help out the Stars when it comes to dumping some salary, and they get a 2028 second round pick and return. I love it.

If Dumba is good, then they can trade him at the deadline for more assets

If Dumba sucks then it helps their chances of winning the lottery

  2. what about leafs the might be want karlsson and need puck moving powerplay guy like himm

  3. Love it, getting a 2nd back along with Dumba is great asset management. As you guys said, that 2028 second round pick, could turn out to be a good chip to have, as this team could be in a different mode come 2028 and be ready to go for it with a new core in place.

  4. Your average rebuild takes about 8 years. They aren't going to be good in 3 years even if they win the McKenna and Dupont lottos.

  5. The HooksOrpik piece was fantastic!

He also mentioned Vegas with the whole Pieteranglo situation. I wonder if once whole thing with Rasmus Anderson clears up it drops the shoe and gets the EK trade move going

  6. I honestly like adding Dumba in these circumstances. I get that he hasn't been that good recently, but he's only signed for one season. If he's bad again it doesn't really matter since the Pens aren't trying to win now anyway, and if he winds up having a good season he can be flipped.

  7. Keeping the top end talent from leaving and the better players will start looking toward the NCAA as a better route.

  8. Since we aren’t “trying to win this year” and we are so far under the cap, wouldn’t it make sense for the pens to no only keep, but retain as much salary as possible for a year of Karlsson’s deal to maximize the return? Especially with his No Move Clause? Just seems like the best way to get the most out of moving him. Personally I’d be happy to retain 50% this year and say 25% in year two to ensure we get at least a 1st and an A prospect.

  9. I hope I’m wrong but I fear this management may be following the pirates. They say they want to get young but bring in a guy at 30 and a pick. Everything is a pick now. He brought in Karlson when we needed a real defensive defenseman and sent the future out the door (Jake Guentzel) I understand we don’t get all the details on everything. Maybe he was ready to move on. But if he wanted to resign here that was pure stupidity

  10. I’d be okay with the decentralized draft if the don’t do the uncomfortable convos after being drafted. Perfect world take I believe would be centralized for the 1st round, then day 2 decentralized and maybe start it later on day 2. Maybe 4-8 pm est instead of 12-4 pm est.

  11. alot of these moves like mantha and dumba maybe even clifton seem like hope they can have a decent season up to the deadline then flip them also shout out to the jacob fatu quote 😂

  12. The CHL is electric if you live in the markets. It's a great mini look into pro hockey, I truly hope it continues to thrive. Making it younger will only ruin what it can do on the development side. I am biased living in an OHL city but trust me when I say don't underestimate the CHL. College and CHL should be on par not separate stones to step

  13. As a former Coyotes fan, unless he has finally gotten healthy, Dumba is washed up. He lost his shot with the injury, and the rest of his game was exposed as lacking. Counting on him for anything other than improving your position in the draft lottery is foolish.

  14. Not getting excited about this latest acquisition unless the Pens find a rock solid goalie. Then they might be back in contention.

  15. Id lmao if the pens just put it all together and just win all year, not every game obviously but like a 600+/-win pct🤣
