The Blackhawks are going to make the playoffs next year? What are you basing that off of? Chicago has so many top heavy contracts, so they are extremely limited as to the moves that they can make to improve the roster. The moves they can actually make won't move the needle much. The core of the roster will continue to age and the lack of cap flexibility for the foreseeable future will hamper them. The Western Conference has some very good young teams, so the Blackhawks will be mired in mediocrity for some time going forward until they get out from under those big contracts. This is unfortunately the result of success.
Okay Chicago will be okay. They have won 3 cups in 6 years and this is the first time that they have been mediocre. It happens. Contending teams fall off every once in a while. They made a shitty trade with Columbus but we're being honest, they will be fine. Their stars are having lackluster seasons but their careers are proof that this probably will bounce back. DeBrincat is exciting. They will get another good pick in the draft and will probably sign someone in free agency and get back to contending next year. They have bad contracts but Stan Bowman can get stuff done to fix it. If this is the end, acknowledge that the end comes for every team eventually but there is still a lot to be optimistic about in Chicago. So shut up, Chicago fans

You were so close to really pinning it in my opinion, they were redwinged. They made these max deals with their core and now are cap strapped. I think that Crawford was concussed, might even be dealing with vertigo and there’s really no way to tell how long it will be. Hosea’s situation is really weird and hopefully will be able to find some sort of a workaround. The Saad trade was to bring back some of the old synergy from the cup years, but it might be time to bring in new management. I want to see the return of the division rivalries.

they beat the Bruins in 2013. ….. thats all that matters. They lost a lot of players since their cup wins—- sharp/ oduya /hjmarlson/ frolik/ big Buff. / hossa / quinville —- when you lose half your team to cap issues , your going to struggle.
