it's worth to take a flyer on Veleno if you compare Veleno's stats to Sam Bennett at the same age it looks similar not saying he will turn into a Sam Bennet just saying Bennett change of scenery did him well, Veleno has talent but still hasn't put together yet, maybe MSL can make Veleno a productive player 45 to 50 points per year nothing is impossible, great video coach
I want Montreal to use only 3/4 lines players on PK, Evans on One unit , Anderson on The other (returning PK players) and find along the remaining 4 players the best fit….this way after a PK is over, we can always come back with 1st line or 2nd to try to take back Momentum… the great things about Newhook, Veleno and Bolduc all have great speed and reaction time that is needed for possible good penalties killing…time to see what we have in training camp

I was hoping that either Beck or Kapanen would be the 4th line centre. The Habs needs to give these two a chance to make it to the big club.

I don't see any point. Depth, but barely.
I like the signing coach. very low risk. If he doesn't work out he will be sent to Lavel if he clears wavers. He can also be a 13th forward if he cannot crack the lineup.
I love the move to get Veleno for FREE . Veleno first round 30th overall is a Montrealer . Any of Montreal's forwards ( except Suzuki ) can be moved around , who knows Veleno may turn out to be the best 2C because Dach certainly did not win the 2C spot by any means, Newhook has no finnish to his game . Playing in Montreal foe Veleno must be a huge incentive to win a spot. Not sure how many first round picks Montreal have in their lineup 13-14- ?? all young and all should be hungry to fit in and make the playoffs ( for sure ) . Thanks couch , food for thought for sure.
Seems that Hughes or Gorton was waiting for him to be bought out.
I read that in 2018, Gorton wanted to draft him. (Veleno #30) And they've been keeping an eye on him.
Apparently there's something they know about him that goes beyond his flat statistics.
Going from being traded twice in one season, to being wanted in Montreal – Veleno must feel pretty good.

I think Veleno is going to have a rebound-season with the Habs, coach.
If he does, we will probably give him a better contract next year.
At 25 years old, he would be 31-33yo when we're ready to win the cup, and could be great depth for a L3 or L4.
However, that's FAR FAR FAR in the future, so let's see what he's going to do in 2025-26 first.
I have big hopes for him.

Last week this fan base were thrilled that they heard Montreal passed on him. Now that he is signed . You all love him. He has had his contract terminated by what 3 teams. Lmao.

Well if Dach and Newhook don't work out , an extra centre doesn't hurt. One yr contract, so he has to prove his value and hopefully lives up the hype when younger.
