You win through the draft. If the Canucks got McTavish, what would their ceiling be? 1st round playoff exit, if they get in? The kid can’t play defence, so Foote is going to have fun with him. You trade the farm when you have a chance at team hardware, not 2 home playoff games. This could be OEL 2.0 only McTavish is younger.

8:56 Blueger is fine as a 4C but has little value to the Ducks; they want someone good. I stand by prior comment: two 1sts, Willander and D-Pete. And then the Canucks still have to move players out to fit McTavish's salary, which I guess is Hoglander and Blueger, which weakens the roster further. It's just semantics on whether they don't have the assets vs. they don't have the assets to spare.
