feels weird as hell that Calgary isnt my least favorite team anymore. what a strange experience the playoffs are :/
Can you do a video on iggy, thornton, ect and do a video on retirement
If Brian eillot does not stay in calgray he can go to Vegas
Flames making the playoffs next year.
Monahan had 4 goals in 4 games in the playoffs this year. You're right about Gaudreau not doing much this year in the playoffs, but he was great against Vancouver a couple of years ago. I don't think either of them you can fairly label as not performers in the playoffs, at least not yet.
As far as our forwards go, I think Versteeg is gonna come back. He wants to stay in Calgary and his family is from Lethbridge so I think he'll take a bit of a hometown discount to stay. He definitely deserves a raise after the work he did last season, but I don't think it will be a very big one. We still need a top line right winger, but beyond that I don't think our depth at forward is that bad, especially if Bennett has a breakout season next year (and I think he will). Top line RW options include possibly Eaves (don't know if he'd come here though), Oshie (probably would but would cost a lot), possibly even Radulov (though he could be a pretty big gamble).
On the blueline, our top 3 is set and as good as anybody's in the League. I think Stone will come back to be our #4 guy, as he played well with Brodie and adds a physical edge to the Top 4 that we kind of lack (though Gio's definitely been known to throw some big hits). Bartkowski I thought was pretty solid as our #6 when we brought him in, and to be honest Flames fans seem to have forgotten we have him, but he was decent. Our #5 is interesting. Ideally, one of Rasmuss Anderssen, Oliver Kylington, Brett Kulak or Tyler Wotherspoon slots in there, maybe even two of them and have Bartkowski as the #7, but I certainly wouldn't hate having Engelland come back for another year if the price is right. Other options could be Trevor Daley (though I'm not sure Pittsburgh parts with him), Karl Alzner (not sure I'm sold on him), Shattenkirk (highly doubt he would sign with us and I don't really want him anyway), and Brendan Smith (could be a pretty decent add).
Goaltending is our biggest concern and #1 priority. I wouldn't mind seeing Elliott come back but I don't think he will. Fleury is certainly an interesting option and we've been linked to him since last year's trade deadline, but for some reason I'm not that sold on him. Ryan Miller's a UFA but I highly doubt we go for him, and Flames fans have been saying for a while that we could get Raanta from the Rangers or Saros from the Preds (though I have no clue why the Preds would trade Saros given he's expansion draft exempt), or Grubauer or even Schneider from New Jersey. Regardless, our goaltending situation is a mess right now but there should be tons of decent options for us. I'd like to see either Gillies or Rittich backing up this year to learn the NHL game but I wouldn't be entirely opposed to bringing back Johnson, though he's said he wants to be a 1a and I'm not sure we can give him that.
I definitely see the flames going after Fleury (hopefully for cheap due to the impending expansion draft),if we weren't going to I don't see why Treliving wouldn't have gone after another goalie yet.
I get how you feel about the offer sheets. But I just don't see anything big happening there. Teams just don't want to use them. Which kind of makes sense. Everyone matches the offer sheet, then has to make moves to make that work cap wise. Maybe if a few offer sheets get signed and teams don't match that might open the door. But they are so rare that it seems like a long-shot to happen.
i think Janko cracks the roster next year, especially if stajan is taken by vegas. and i dont get why Johnson is the guy everyone is saying to bring back. Elliott is the better goalie, he should be brought back but as the backup, and obviously bring in a number 1
Last time Calgary had a mid first round pick Treliving moved it to bring in Hamilton. I wouldn't be suprised if he used this years in an attempt to get Fleury. Also, as interested as I am to see Gillies progression, it's worth noting that David Rittich also had a solid year in Stockton. So who knows who could challange for a back up position.
They got ducking swept
Flames Fan. I don't see the Flames going deep into the playoffs until/If Sam Benett becomes the player they hoped he would turn into. Other than goal tending obviously.

I hope they resign Lazar and versteeg. Those are maybes in my books
I think Bennett will be a good player.
Whenever I look at Calgary, this place had a similar landscape to the Americans. The city is actually a Western town with cowboys and cowgirls riding in rodeos in Alberta. This town looks like Texas but it's in Canada with the festivities known as the Stampede. Their arena is shaped like a saddle hence the name Saddledome. Is it me or does Calgary look like Canadian Texas? And farms have their own cows with the nickname Cowtown and has that Old Western feel to it. Do you think Calgary looks like Texas or not?
