  1. The Tampa Bay lightning we’re kind of in the same situation the Detroit redwings were in the early 90s before 96-97 season. Great talent but not enough umph in their lineup.

  2. Well deserved champs. To those who say this deserves an asterik. Does the 2013 Blackhawks Cup Win also need an asterik? In which only 48 regular games we’re played. I believe putting an asterik on this season is a disgrace not only to the players but the NHL itself. They put this together during a pandemic with a great situation and got it done. Just saying.

  3. I think there departures hurt them, but now with there experience and know what they need to do, the loss of shatty and bogosian dont hurt them too much, especially with foote coming up

  4. Yeah, they may have cap issues, but….let's be honest, the Tampa Bay Lightning are STILL a stacked team that can compete for another Stanley Cup this coming season( whenever it begins anyway, hopefully by January ). Will it be a bit tougher for them season even in a shorter schedule? Maybe. Teams will be gunning for them even harder now. But the Lightning are still a very solid team & if those divisional alignments are finalized then the Lightning will be in a division where they could run away and hide for sure. Only team I could see challenging the Lightning in their division are, of all teams….Columbus. Yep. 😉 But still the Lightning will be one of the favorites again this season & I could see Tampa at least making the conference finals( or semi-finals depending on what the playoff format looks like )once again.

  5. 66 points in a 48 game season, 1st in Atlantic, sweep Flyers in round 1, eliminated by Rangers in 6 in round 2

  6. The whole purpose of trading their futures last year was to lock in cheap costs for those players over 2 seasons. Tampa has a prospect system that can back fill their lineup even still. I wouldn’t be worried they’ll be a contender for a decade plus

  7. both were left out of the discussion but paquette and coburn figure in prominently. I dont see foote on 1st pair with hedman. More likely Cernak as the stay at home D so hedman can do hedman stuff.

johnson and or killorn get moved, gourde stays on 3rd line

boulette and volkov cycle in and go 4th line with paquette and maroon

  8. With a shorten season there is a concern of the Stanley cup hangover. But with the division they fall in, they will make the playoffs about the same time they should be firing on all cylinders. Back to back ships for the boys. Let's go lightning

  9. Those forward pairings get shaken up even more now that Kuch is out for the regular season.

  10. Well we all know how this turned out. The Cup had an extended stay in Tampa. A Cup hat trick is totally possible……………………………"GO BOLTS"
