  1. Thanks “Poke the Bear”🐻. Longtime Bruins fan since ‘68, now living outside of Tokyo! Try going west… far west… to this side of the Pacific and meet a fellow Spoked-B 🐻 fan (American from US east coast). Treat you to a bit of authentic sushi, Kobe beef and toast to our B’s!! 🐻

  2. 11:20 The presumption in signing Lindholm as a (at least short term) 1C with Pastrnak … I think it’s still viable. The problems at the outset of the 2024-25 season were: Lindholm was playing injured, and Zacha just isn’t a 1LW (and neither is Marchand at this point in his career).

Granted, I don’t think many folks envisioned Morgan Geekie as a legitimate 1LW, as of summer 2024. Certainly, Jim Montgomery did not envision that, as Geekie was a healthy scratch at least once during that autumn 2024 timeframe. But, heck, Geekie proved doubters wrong. And along with better health for Elias, I think it’s that combination of two competent first line wingers that makes Lindholm “click”.

Boston will need to patchwork a decent 2nd line, somehow, but (barring injury), the Geekie/Lindholm/Pastrnak line is more than capable of producing 100 Goals in a full season.

  3. 17:46 “For every [kneecap] surgery that went well, there’s a Kevan Miller situation”.
Just for clarity & accuracy, Conor… what you said really isn’t true. Publicly available data on recovery from patellar fractures indicates that the Miller outcome is an outlier. It’s likely (but certainly not guaranteed) that Lindholm’s knee will be okay, going forward.

That said, I do think it’s worthwhile mentioning that Lindholm may still need a few more months of late-stage rehabilitation, and that could still be ongoing during the early part of the upcoming season. I hope Hampus will have a good October, but I won’t be making any conclusive judgments on his knee’s health until he has 12-15 NHL games played, sometime in early/mid November.

  4. DiPietro was drafted 64 th overall in 2017 he was sanbaged in Vancouver in 2018 7 goals against in his first NHL game this kid has a lot to prove and is ready and hungry !!!!!!!!

  5. IMO Bs will have 2 surprises from kids: Blumel and Locemelis

Blumel Zacha Pasta (Full CZECH line)
    Mittelstadt Lindholm Arvidsson (Swede duo)
Geekie Locemelis Poitras ( best Chemistry last PROV play-offs)
    Jeannot Kastelic Kuraly (THE BANGERS)

  6. 24:27 Evan, you should know this, shouldn’t you?
The upcoming season will be Poitras’ third NHL season.
It’s important to note that he (in part, due to injury) has less than one full NHL season on his resume (66 games played). Only 26 Points during that timespan, although his shooting percentage last season was unsustainably low (at only 3.4%).

I think the Bruins should do whatever is best to raise Poitras’ trade value, whether that’s lighting up the AHL, playing wing in Boston’s middle-six, or committing to Poitras at 2C or 3C.

I’m not saying Sweeney should be actively trying to trade Poitras (for now, anyways), but positioning Poitras to potentially be a future trade chip might be important. With Lindholm in Boston through 2030, plus a bunch of Center prospects coming (Minten, Locmelis, Letourneau, Hagens, Moore), I don’t know if Poitras fits the mid-to-long-term plans for the Bruins.

  7. 19:56 I took a look at the stats for NHL defensemen from 2024-25. About thirty D-men reached 40 Points. A few of them are in Lohrei’s age group (Dahlin, Harley, Seider, LaCombe, Bouchard), but ALL of those guys averaged north of 22 minutes average TOI per game. In other words, 40-Point defensemen typically handle way more TOI responsibility than Lohrei did last season, despite the opportunity (for more minutes) with Hampus Lindholm absent most of the season.

If Lindholm and Zadorov are healthy, I wouldn’t expect Lohrei to be playing enough minutes for him to realistically reach 40 Points next season. I think a better, more reasonable standard to set might be 30 Points and (perhaps more importantly) not a black hole on defense.

  8. 22:34 Are you maybe expecting a bit too much from Minten this season? I’m not saying it’s impossible, but he did (just recently) turn 21 years old. Minten has great size (6’2”, 195) for that age, but he’s still pretty raw, with just 37 AHL games on his resume.

I think we will be more likely to see contributions from Lysell, who is now 22.5 years old, with over 150 AHL games played. Lysell is now at the age where we have seen some recent right wingers have “break out” seasons (Peterka, Tippett, Evangelista, Jack Quinn).

I would be stoked if EITHER of these two rookies has a full season with the (Boston) Bruins, this season. The roster needs an influx of younger, cost-controlled skaters to offset Sweeney’s future UFA spending.
